Rasheen Teasley bka Retsam Da Prince was born in Long Island NY. A year later after his birth his mother moved them to the Bronx. He lived in the Bronx for the next 13 years, where his mother introduced him to music such as good old RnB and Old school Hip Hop, but at the age of 8 is when he enjoyed the tunes of house music & freestyle, and really learned to appreciate the art of Hip Hop. With the help of his father he realized what Hip Hop really meant, when he was astonished with the performance of LL Cool J at Madison square Garden, who knew that this would start the launch of his career as a sensational rap artist.
At the age of 14, his mother moved them to Brooklyn NY, That's when it all began, he became friends with Artist D.V. Alias Khryst, Smoothe Da Hustler, Trigga Da Gambler, along with the Group "Ruckus" that's when the shows began. The Group Ruckus was offered a deal with Columbia Records, which Retsam was only 15 yrs old. Instead of fully committing to Columbia, Ruckus decided to take the Independent route and went with Nexx level entertainment. Since his move to Brooklyn he has matured into the artist he is today. Retsam Da Prince have been freestyling on mix-tapes for DJ Ap, Bigg Kapp, and Rated "R", Nexx Level, Dj 4sho, Pete Rock & Marley Marl.
In the early 2000's Retsam Rocked stages with artist such as De la Soul, Common, D.V.Alias Khryst, Taleb Kweli on the Spit Kickers tour. From this relationship with De la Soul came a feature appearance on D.V. Alias Khryst single Rejuvenation by ways of Maceo of De la Soul label Bear Mountain Tommy Boy records, the video Rejuvenation/Timeless aired on 106th & park and rap city the basement.
Throughout the years he has appeared on shows like Rock Me TV which he landed a one on one interview with Gemini Keez, as well as done a show for Rock Me TV in reference to the Round table freestyle session with Artist Freeway, EPMD and La the Darkman.
"The Prince of Bklyn" Mix CD was the new wave on the streets, along with Retlaw Presents Get Out the Way which is on Itunes,the Fusion Mix CD, The Bakery which was produced by Power of Wu-Tang, and Counter Action hosted by Dj. Woo Kid.
In 2008 he was featured on the single "Swag Tag" with D.V.Alias Khryst, but it didn't stop there, he also appeared on D.V. Alias Khryst "Da Govarmynt" produced by Marley Marl, Which aired on the Legendary radio show Future Flavor.
Retsam has blessed many stages & open Mic sessions throughout the Tri-State Area, such as appearances at SOB's, ESSOS, Jimmy XBar, Joe's pub
Manhattan Center, CBGBS,Lyricist Lounge, he has also opened up for Legendary artist Ice T at the infamous BB Kings, this is just to name a few. Retsam has toured in not only the U.S. but his talents has taken him across seas, to countries such as London, Japan and Germany.
He was featured on a record with Overseas Artist, Main Concept & Sammy Deluxe the song "The World aint Ready". Also a feature on DV Alias Khryst" Calm Down", which was two of his #1 over seas singles which has blessed the airways of Germany.
He has been in various video's that has been aired on BET, BCat, MNN, and a host of other shows. One of his video 116R's which was produced by Gov. Officials, one of many videos that can be found on You Tube.
Retsam is currently working on his brand new street albums "Ret-Tribution" featured on his album is none other than Billy Dance of MOP, XO, G-Dep, D.V. Alias Khryst, just to name a few. The official album Ret-Perspective will be out soon.
Retsam has previously had the opportunity to work with, Dr. Period, Easy Mo-Bee, Lavason, Dangerous LLC, Midi Mafia, Spazz Dog Ent., DGSUP Inc. , &
Govarmynt Officials.
Retsam Da Prince has captured college fans, that lead him to guest appearances on college stations such as NYU, LIU and Stony-brook College radio, also had the chance to appear on some of the hottest underground radio stations with Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito and the legendary Future Flavors, just to name a few.
These accomplishments was once a dream for him, but thru determination, perseverance and support of family and friends, he has been able to live out his dream, and to think it all started with House Music
