Some bands have it easy. They are birthed with the popping of champagne bottles and christened by an array of publicists, sycophants and graphic designers. These bands are blessed, yet often uninteresting and corrupt. Other bands must suffer, often forever. The Patients are one of those bands. Stu Bishop, bandleader of the soulful Ontarian rock and roll outfit may stop suffering one day, but if it means he has to stop the rock, then he'll make himself suffer some more. His longtime musical partner John Wilson loves to make out with Stu, musically. The two have been through cold tours, hot dogs and warm beer in order to come up with satisfying music. The songs of the bands debut LP Get Well Soon come out of lousy beer, dirty hearts, strange arguments, and the despair of staring at a stained wall. The recording of Get Well Soon was paid for by something more sinister than all of those angts hanging out, washing a naked guy: medical testing. This self-financed project was paid for in large part by the volunteering of a body, so your ears should volunteer to give it a listen, as deep caring has been put into each song. Recorded at the vaunted Hallamusic by curly-locked Svengali Pete Hudson, whose ennui and malaise that so greatly helped the recordings of such bands as the Deadly Snakes, Teen Crud Combo and Skaface gelled with The Patients' in a truly symbiotic fashon. The two became inseparable for the months of the recording, and brows sweated and furrowed simultaneously in anticipation. Here are a few tracks from the album, for you. It is hoped that you enjoy them.
