ABOUT "THE FABLED CITY"
"The Rage Against the Machine guitarist's remarkable transformation from purveyor of weapons-grade funk-metal riffs into introspective protest folkie yields even more impressive fruit on his second solo effort. A-" -Entertainment Weekly
"We already knew that Tom Morello is a monster guitarist. But on The Fabled City, he tells smaller stories that resonate in a way that cuts straight to the bone. This album signals the arrival of Tom Morello as a songwriter every bit as great as we already know him as a guitarist." -Cinemablend.com
"Morello proves himself an authoritative storyteller and deft songwriter by abandoning his soapbox and joining the struggle of the beleaguered underdogs he champions as they cope with war, poverty, oppression and constant assaults on their dignity. 3 ½ Stars" -USA Today
"With The Fabled City, Morello's growth as a topical songwriter is enormous; he's brought the singer/songwriter into a cultural discussion, a dialogue, where we can dialogue not only about characters (who are treated with dignity as speaking subjects, not merely as objects to hang a tune on) and their struggles, but also with popular music again, as a ready tool for awareness of the world around us. 4 out of 5 stars." -All Music Guide
"The album may be quiet, but it has the intensity of Morello's best work, with sharp, scathing lyrics delivering the outrage fans are familiar with." -East Bay Express
"The new dynamics complement Morello's voice, which is more nuanced here, moving from the melodrama of Nick Cave ("The Lights Are On In Spidertown") to the minimalist purr of Leonard Cohen ("Rise To Power")." -Rolling Stone
"Morello is already a stellar guitarist, but The Fabled City is proof that he is a masterful storyteller as well." -Virginia Tech Collegiate Times
"…one even Guthrie would be proud of." -University of Maryland Diamondback
"Morello songs are like the murals from Diego Riviera, images of working class heroes and victims of capitalism's shadow populate his songs. And like Woody Guthrie, Morello is a songwriter with a mission." -Twangville.com
"Tom Morello's folk persona, the Nightwatchman, is more superhero than cowboy or bluesman, but that's appropriate for a guy best known for working miracles with an effects pedal." -The Los Angeles Times
"It makes you hope that a re-formed Rage Against the Machine doesn't stop Morello from doing his own thang." -The Daily Californian, UC Berkeley
"All I can say is.go someplace dark and quiet with a pair of headphones to listen to this album. Morello's voice will shake you down." - American Songwriter
