Them vs. Them is a rock band with a big beat. Singer JAQ and organist Ig followed through on much discussion and got this band going in summer 2005. Singer JQ and organist Ig followed through on much discussion and got this band going in summer 2005. JQ has toured with the Grommits, was composer/co-producer of the HBO-award-winning off-Broadway hit The Bomb-itty of Errors and was composer/actor/writer of the MTV sketch-comedy series Scratch and Burn. JQ is from Chicago but spends much time in NYC and LA. Ig, who moved from NYC to Chicago when hired by the Junior Wells Band, is the LOUD organist/co-songwriter/co-singer of Chicago rock band oh my god.

Their recruits: Ig's oh my god-mate Bish on drums (file under: powerhouse) and vicious string-puller Jake Garcia of Darediablo (Southern Records) on guitar. Them vs. Them is amped up, thrown down, backed by sick beats and fronted by a psycho-singer who WILL. NOT. SIT. STILL! Burning organ tangles with bending guitar as these tunes take you from punk to classic rock to electro-somethin'. The band has recorded their double-disc debut ("Party Detonator" and a complete JQ remix version, "Panty Tart Rodeo"…an amazingly apt anagram of the album title) with Chad Clark (Dismemberment Plan, Fugazi, Burning Airlines…) and T.J. Lipple at Silver Sonya in Arlington, VA. Get ready to go…

Some press so far:

"The band's convulsive sound surfs on explosive beats more danceable than a million Franz Ferdinands and more pogo-inducing than a billion Fall Out Boys.angular guitar eruptions.jaw-dropping organ work. There is no more creative organist in rock today than IgJAQ's vocal display is equally multifaceted. The result of all the players' oscillating talents is a keyed-up, rainbow-flavored brand of power-pop that touches on classic punk and post-punk."

-Cincinnati CityBeat

"Punk-based eclectic grooves with a pop slant gives the band a chaotic sound that is danceable, delectable and diabolical. It is hard to focus on just one member with all the musical genius going on. One of the best new acts in the country right now."

-Maximum Ink (WI)

"A delightfully spastic new synth-punk band. The vocals are handled by JAQ, who brings boundless energy to the live show. The group recently released 9 Demos, a supremely fun disc."

-The Onion

"Amazing adrenaline-electroshock organ player Ig swings his enormous organ hard--the way Jimmy Smith, Ray Manzarek, and Booker T. used to--and the rest of the band's skintight rokk is fun and energetic."

-Chicago Reader

"Them vs. Them features frenetic front man JAQ and an energetic meld of organs and guitar, dance and punk. Songs from the band's yet-to-be-released album twist together garage rock and quirky-cool pop reminiscent of new wave bands such as the Cars."

-Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel

"Ig is responsible for the band's distinctive sound, morphing his keys in and out of different distortions and phases.Quasi vs. Stabbing Westward.muscular indie rock sugary enough to get you dancing.driven electro-stomps."

-Columbus Alive (OH)

"The band's music ranges from the primal force of Death from Above 1979 to Red Hot Chili Peppers-style funk with occasional nods to rap."

-The Other Paper (Columbus, OH)

"It was 1986 when Run-D.M.C. and Aerosmith fused rock and rap. Now, 20 years later, Them vs. Them is on the verge of taking it to new heights with an amped-up, pop-punk-rap sound that incorporates everything from Elvis Costello and Rod Stewart to Fugazi and the Beastie Boys."

-Des Moines City View (IA)

"As eclectic as a modern pop band has any right to be.Hard rock, synthesizer new wave, commercial hip-hop, J. Geils Band-like pop-rock and the rockin' regional bar-punk sounds of the late '70s make for a thrilling mix."

-New Haven Advocate, (CT)

"Energy: it's what defines brand-new rock band Them vs. Them.Iguana and his three bandmates meld slinky and jittery punk to rock and electro. Think Van Halen mixed with Devo but with a more danceable edgea thunderous cavalcade of drums and guitar.Kannenberg's guitar is the perfect foil for Iguana's burning organ."

-Lansing Noise (MI)

"One of the best unsigned acts in the country. Pop and chaotic rock with a smattering of rap makes for an electrifying live performance that's not to be missed.quirky verses and an indie-pop sensibility paired with saccharine-sweet punk choruses."

-Milwaukee Shepherd-Express (WI)

"Delightfully spastic, synthy dance-punk. It's too aggressive and funky (in a Prince kind of way) to fit within the dancey post-punk that's so popular now, not to mention too fun. The guitar and organ provide gigantic hooks of the poppiest variety."
