After forming in Arnhem, The Netherlands in 2004, The May Bees released three albums -- Fake Around EP (Stereostore, 2005), Blame It on the Other Ones (Stereostore, 2006), and Drop Little Boy (Wampus Multimedia, 2007) -- to enthusiastic reviews and airplay around the world. The band performed frequently in their homeland, opening for Frank Black, The Drones, Air Traffic, Bettie Serveert, and Caesar, and also toured the east coast of the USA and Canada.
Despite personnel changes over the years, the band has always maintained the presence of principal songwriter Gregory Orange. Their work is based on Gregory's love for pure and intense rock songs in the tradition of Guided By Voices, Pixies, Sebadoh, and Dinosaur Jr., and in the spirit of bands like Nirvana, Grandaddy, and Radiohead.
The May Bees recorded their latest album, Saint-Denis, with producer Todd Tobias (Guided by Voices, Robert Pollard, Circus Devils) in Ohio in 2009. The record will be released by Wampus Multimedia on September 27, 2011.
