The Liszt aren’t named after the famed 19th century Hungarian composer Franz Liszt for nothing: since this Dutch band is characterized by a similar Romantic feeling for Melancholy, and craves a Faust-like aspiration to fathom the true nature of Rock Music.
Together with Ro Herregraven (bass), Tim Ruterink (guitar), Tom Delforterie (drums) and Marcel van de Vondervoort (percussion, sound effects, producer), full-blooded Romantic R.J. Gruijthuijzen goes to war against insincere sentimentality and cheap entertainment with timeless compositions, averse from whatever’s trendy nowadays.
Classic Rock, if you wish, but with it’s feet clearly planted in today. Influences range from Led Zeppelin to Nirvana, from JJ. Cale to QOTSA and from David Bowie to Sonic Youth.
For, as we all know, without knowing one's past, one cannot move into the future.
