This is the official myspace page for the original American band known as the LIBERTINES US, formed in 1983. History:Back in Cincinnati, Ohio circa 1983, the original Libertines (u.s.) power trio consisted of Walter (guitar & words), Randy (bass), and Joe (drums). After 1986, they expanded to a quartet, adding Jimmy D (guitar), and Greg replacing Joe on drums. By the early 90s, Randy had found success playing with the Ass Ponys. Ted filled in on bass during that time. After playing and recording throughout the Midwest for a decade, the band went into hibernation for about thirteen years. During the break, their previous recordings were eventually remastered and digitized for re-release. GREATEST HITS is a 21 track collection from that era, and is available at a number of music retailers including CD Baby and iTunes.
Recent: In 2005, Jimmy D conned Walt and Randy into a reunion. 2006, the Libertines US finally returned to Newport, KY with T-Lo (BPA, Wolverton Brothers, Go To Hell) drumming. The band played their final show as the Libertines US in Brooklyn, NY on July 30, 2010. "Jingle, jangle, crunch! One of the indie-rock greats of the '80s returns". [The Big Takeover. issue 60]
