Huge World Project

The Huge World Project was formed in June 2004 when three musicians with different backgrounds and influences formed in Bowling Green, OH. Combining modern elements of hip hop beats, reggae bass lines, and classic ripping electric guitar, HWP also places an emphasis on songwriting. Most songs are written by founder and guitarist/singer/songwriter Tony Papa.



Papa toured nationally with Milwaukee based band Freshwater Collins from April 2002 until July 2003. During that time, Papa and FWC shared the stage with such icons as Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin and Warren Haynes from the Allman Brothers/Gov't Mule. Eventually, Papa decided to follow his own musical ideas and returned to Bowling Green, OH. Papa currently instructs guitar students and also performs weekly. It was at Bowling Green Music and Sound that Papa met Mohom (bass) and Elijah (drums).



Mohom had been working at the music store for 10 years repairing all types of equipment as well as holding the position of head sound engineer at local music club Howard's Club H. In that time, Mohom gained practical experience running sound for artists such as John Scofield, Fishbone, Bill Haley and the Comets, and Andrew W.K. He's also performed in several bands, recorded in Chick Corea's LA studio and played with the likes of Fuzzy Samuels, former bass player for Crosby, Stills, and Nash (Deja Vu album). In addition to his role as the bass player, Mohom studies the sitar and incorporates the Indian instrument into the show.



Trained as a jazz drummer and receiving his B.M. in Music Ed. and Jazz Studies from Bowling Green State University in December 2004, Elijah Vazquez is currently the Director of Instrumental Music for Harvey High School in Painesville. Jeff Halsey, Gene Parker, Tony Monacco, Frank Vigniola, Claude Black, Chris Buzzelli, Russ Schmidt, and Randy Johnson are just a few of the jazz artists that Vazquez has shared the stage with. He has recorded in the past with groups such as La Revancha, Mercury Effect, and Groove Assassin as well as Rob Howard's solo release Zeitgeiber.
