The Hermans began as a two-piece creating music in a shitty basement like so many other rock and roll idiots before them. Derk and Dave created a style that they dug probably borrowing from influences burrowed in their subconscious even though they really don't sound much like Rush, Tom Waits, Zappa, Led Zeppelin, The Who or Devo. Hopefully, that is a good thing as bands that start in basements tend to end up sounding like prototypical clones of those they listen to and that is friggin' weak.well.Seattle Sound magazine saying they "are The Pixies lobotomized by Dee Dee Ramone" is pretty cool!

Strangely, unlike most other bands, the two kept piles of notes, emails, lyric sheets, scribbles, letters and began a website to join the century they were living in and after three long years they put them together and published a book, "The Hermans: Stalking America. The journal of an unknown Rock and Roll band." Jeff Ament of Big Sandy Montana (you may know him from a band called Pearl Jam) wrote the foreword and it hit book shelves this past October (2007). Before it's release, however, they hit a snag: their super hero bass player Bill and real life guitar hero Chris Entz (the people that made those video games have obviously never heard Chris play guitar or they would have called it "Chris Entz Hero") decided they didn't want to leave Missoula to tour.Missoula really is the nicest place. Anyway, Dave and Derk needed to act fast. An ominous cloud happened to be hovering over Missoula as we lost one of our greatest rawk bands, The International Playboys. The vultures they are, Derk and Dave snagged The Count to play lead guitar and also scored Cale (of Apples of Discord fame) to deliver the bass.

So, uhhhh, yeah. Here we are. A new album is eminent as upon the hermans getting back from their fall tour of the West coast, they wrote five new songs within a weekend and are planning to go east this spring/summer.

The new sound will be posted soon.
