hmmm. yes please.
We started in early '07 under the name "The Happy Chromosomes". None of us had ever been in a band before and most of us had little or no musical background or teaching at all. We wrote songs and practiced them, all while learning/practicing our respective instruments. We had enough original material to play our first show in Oct. of '07 and we've been groovin' out the jams ever since. We released our debut album, "8 Months 'Till Mardi Gras" in May of '08 and our second release, "Bears" in June of '09. If you want one, just ring our bell or download it FREE on purevolume.com. Members have weaved in and out of the band and our styles have felt their way around different sides of the indie rock sound while keeping an upbeat, catchy grooves the backbone of our outfit. We renamed the group "The Olympics" midway through '10. We love meeting/playing with other bands so get in touch with us if you're interested in booking or playing with us! *IF YOU WISH TO CONTACT US via e-mail: jeffroalson90@gmail.com.

The Happy Chromosomes came on next and quickly won the hearts of everyone in the room. Easy progressions set sail on Dan Roalson’s fast and funky bass grooves while Trevor Polk’s creative keyboard voicing made my lips keep curling up into involuntary smiles. Happy Chromosomes make fun, well-crafted songs, they are never boring. -Little Village Magazine

So, the thing about Sub Pop is that they should sign the Happy Chromosomes. It’s really impressive that such a young band — high school, yo — is so on top of their indie-pop game. They would fit right onto the Sub Pop roster or even it’s little sister label, Hardly Art. But alas, those Pacific Northwesterners are so short-sighted, always looking past us modest Iowans. To be clear: Happy Chromosomes are a local high school band who play with the strength of a well-seasoned outfit and, damn, their songs are catchy.

As soon as their tunes start playing, you can hear the absent minded humor in the weird sounds that will wriggle their way out of your speakers. I am not quite sure what is making some of those noises, but they are titillating nonetheless. The music speaks for itself.
