good luck bear is a three-piece rock and roll band from Los Angeles, California. Originally conceived as a solo project, songwriter Christian M. Velky recorded and released a self-titled EP in 2006. After performing acoustic shows throughout Southern California, he decided to expand to a full band, which consists of Christian on guitar and lead vocals, Hoyt R. Adams on bass, and Leonard P. Tucker III on drums. In Spring of 2011, the band released their first full-length album, The Nearest Faraway Place. Starting with dreamy album opener "Down and Blue", with its minimal organ instrumentation and layered vocal harmonies, the album then quickly awakens and never lets up for the remainder of the album. Whether it's kiwi-pop inspired numbers ("Interchangeable Girls"), surf-influenced power pop (So Go"), or post-shoegaze indie rock ("Compass"), the album consistently blends reverb and layered vocal harmonies with perfect pop hooks.
