The Fall of Radio was formed in 2007 with the idea of bringing back what was great about music in the past, yet still pushing forward. The duo, Lee McCarthy and Chris Martin have known each other since grade school. Growing up in Mississauga they wrote their first songs, while burrowing through the Canadian winter, on their way to the local comic shop. Both were inspired to play guitar by the same man, their seventh grade teacher Mr. Young. Their musical influences include The Beatles, Nirvana, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin and The White Stripes.
Today they are interested in tackling many of the sub genres within both Rock and Pop music. Their sound has been described as raw, dark, and atmospheric. For now their songs can be heard on My Space, Trig, Broadjam and Yuwie. Their debut self titled album should be out by the end of the year, along with their first video.
Although they are still a young band The Fall of Radio are enjoying overwhelming positive response from audiences. They have charted at 2 on Broadjam indi/lowfi and 10 in Ontario, with their song 16. Their new single Charms recently hit 7 on Broadjam alternative/rock, and 10 in Ontario. The duo have also started to catch the attention of local Radio stations and can be heard on such as 209 RADIO and are an ever growing presence in the new music scene. There live shows although few to date have border lined on something almost religious. Amongst the smoky clearing of feedback and nerves one thing is certain, the radios are falling.
