The Dirty Hearts rock & roll love affair began when Frankie met Calida in a garage studio in Santa Fe, NM. Not long after, the couple packed their bags and moved to Austin, Texas where in the summer of 2005, the two began cranking out stripped down and honest music.
The band has since released an EP and two LPs. The song “New One” off the first LP was featured in Hollywood B movie production “Ninja Cheerleaders”. The sexy scene where the starlet’s of the movie do a burlesque number to the song led to TV and radio spots. The most notable, was a hilarious guest appearance on the Andy Dick “Shit Show”. The second LP “Pigs” features the song “Record Store”. The band shot a lo-fi video at a couple of favorite Austin record stores for the song. The video was eventually screened at the 2009 SXSW film festival.
The Dirty Hearts are currently getting ready to release a 7” single entitled “Entitled”. The band has dubbed their newer sound as “Horny Rock & Roll”. The Dirty Hearts are Frankie Medina (Vox, Gtrs), Calida (Vox, Keys), Keith McManus (Bassist) & CJ Barker (Aux Drums).
