The Reckless Hearts are a four piece Power Pop group hailing from the city of Milwaukee. Although the boys have spent years playing in previous groups, this one is barely past it's one year anniversary. In 2009 the band released their album Get Up and Run, put out a video for their song “Yer a Blur”, and had a successful summer tour. Currently the group is hard at work writing and recording a new album at their secret lair deep beneath the Wisconsin soil, elaborating on the tough-but-sweet sound they honed on their last recording on the Australian label Off the Hip.

Although it seems strange that a band from Milwaukee should reach across the globe to release an album, it makes perfect sense to the boys in the band, as Australia has long had a love affair with midwestern rock and roll, usually more so than their American cousins. It also flows from reason, seeing as Power Pop in general is a more global community than a localized genre, with intermittent strongholds in such far flung places as Spain and Japan. With that being said, the Upper-Midwest has a sturdy track record within Power Pop, and The Reckless Hearts merely see themselves as the latest manifestation of that.

The boys in the Reckless Hearts would like you to believe that they combine the uptight sound of early British Mod music like the Who, the hook driven power of the Buzzcocks, and the harmonies of groups like the Records or Teenage Fanclub without becoming a cartoonish homage, but that is of course up for debate. What is for certain is that regardless of the musical touch points, the aim and central focus of the group is sincere and unrepentant fun. So while there may be fewer egotistical fireworks than some groups, the Reckless Hearts keep their priorities straight by making the song itself the star of the show. Through their songs, they aspire to embody those feelings which all real rock bands celebrate, like mischief, youthful love, and the time honored tradition of chasing a thrill.
