I'd like to tell you a story about a group of folks go by the name The Culhanes. Now, The Culhanesthat's a name NO ONE would self-apply where I come from, but then there was a lot about The Culhanes that didn't make much sense to me. Maybe that's why I found their story so durned interesting.

They've played all around the Denver area in places like: The Bluebird Theatre The Skylark Lounge Soiled Dove Underground Three Kings Tavern Bender’s Tavern The People's Fair and 88.5 FM KGNU

And they've shared the stage with country music acts like: The Texas Sapphires Jessie Dayton Sarah Borges and the Broken Singles,The Hollyfelds The Railbendersand Shurman

And listen to what folks are saying about their album

No Part of Nothin’ produced by John Macy

***One of Westword'sFavorite Local Releases of 2009

The tone and texture of (Jenny Lynn) Culhane’s voice sounds as if it might have been concocted in some Nashville laboratory. It has a sandpapery crackle and an unaffected twang that grounds Culhane’s delivery in authenticity. Another highlight of The Culhanes’ sound is the pedal steel guitar. Pedal steel player Gary Baker adds a delicious honky-tonk topping to the band’s dishes of drums, bass and guitars.- Quinton Young, The Longmont Times-Call

Longmont's alt-country Culhanes borrow a bit of Hee Haw's cheekines and delve into tride and true country themes drinking, longing and uh, robbing banks. While this ain't pure Texas country, these folks manage to inject a bit of rock and roll into the mix and churn out a damn fine record.- John Solomon, Westword
