The Collapsible Mammals was formed in 2006 by Chris Avitabile in Los Angeles. After years of collecting sounds, instruments and records throughout America, Chris decided to make a record. Things got interesting, and soon a collection of seemingly soundtrack like, instrumental(ish), get in the car and drive to an undisclosed location type creations started popping up. This very collection of songs, loosely about a fictional land called New Zombia, was mixed by John Flores at his Snoppy Quop Studio and mastered by Mike Lazer, of Gnarls Barkley fame, and can be purchased through Dinner Party Records, on iTunes, or Amazon.

The second CDR only release, Tripods For Faces: is a remix/re-configured group of songs that serve as the soundtrack to Avitabile's first solo sculpture exhibition in May 2008. A copy of this project can be obtained directly from us.

The Mammals also perform and collaborate with the amazing group OJO. The "live" recording from our LAXART performance, Passin' Thru The New Amazing, is finally here and on colored vinyl! You can order one at: www.laxart.org. The colors vary so each one is a surprise. It features the recording fromm the show and two remixes by The Collapsible Mammals and Los Cremators (aka DJ Lengua).

Now the new live setup consists of two brothers playing drums, electronics, guitars, basses, keyboards, and each other.

Thanks for listening to our airwaves.
