"Poppy, melodic. [the Blissters music] has a bit of a new wave sensibility that couples nicely with its garage rock guitars. [.] The band is certainly energetic, and that helps breathe life into a mostly overused genre."
- Mike O'Cull, Illinois Entertainer, 2/1/09
"You might want to watch out for a hot, DIY Chicago group: the Blissters. Their sound (think new wave infused with heavy rock, complete with catchy boy-girl harmonies) is as diverse as the influences they bring to the table, which range from Spice Girls and Abba to The Beatles and The Pixies." - Windy City Times, 10/1/08
"Local power-pop quartet The Blissters make swirly, catchy pop of the radio-ready variety." - Time Out Chicago, 9/11/08

"Right or Reason is a high energy tune with hit written all over it, and A-OK is a perfect follow up. I really dig the surprise keyboard interludes - they give these tunes a healthy 80s vibe that works perfectly. {The Blissters are} very promising and should excite any music biz hotshot worth his or her salt to give this band the resources they need to make a blockbuster record. If you like pop punk with a new wave 80s flavor, check out The Blissters." - Bill's Music Forum, 9/4/08

"Singer and guitarist Erica C. has a very appealing rough-and-ready-yet-tuneful delivery that helps to give the tracks some extra edge for a nice balance of pop and rock." - The Examiner, 9/3/08

"The Blissters' [music] immediately lodges in your brain and you can't get rid of it." - Mark W., The Rock and Roll Report, Canada, 8/26/08

“I can easily hear [I Heart New Wave] being played on the radio and MTV. There are a lot of bands in the oversaturated pop rock genre and I truly believe this one of the better ones.”
- Chicago’s Rock Magazine, 12/19/06

“[I Heart New Wave] is very good. A pleasure!”
-Louis Oulon (CNN’s 2004 “African Reporter of the Year”), RTB, Burkina Faso, 6/6/07

The Blissters were formed in the Summer of '04 when former bandmates Arnold and Erica (ex The Envoys) reunited to record an EP for Arnold's project Combination F. The recording went super swell, so the kids decided to stick together and form a brand new band. Scott (ex of NYC's The Letdowns) joined up after a brief drummer search and hot new bassist Johnny D completes the group, and all is well with the world.
The Blissters have been a staple in the Chicago music scene, performing at bars and clubs, since 2004. They performed at Chicago's Taste of Lincoln in Summer of 07, which attracts 50,000+ attendees, will play the International Pop Overthrow Festival for the third year in April 09, and won the WXRT/Starbucks competition with the fierce number "Just Like You". They have received significant airplay on WXRT and WLUW, and are currently recording songs for another album.
The Blissters music soothes the soul but shakes the naughty areas, combining melodic harmonies, upbeat tunes, and high energy live performances. With Erica's sexy voice, Arnold's catchy riffs, Marcus' tight bass lines, and Scotties spastic drumfills, The Blissters want you to sing-a-long and enjoy the music. Hope you do!
