California Black Tarantula male and female mating in the Wild (not caged) - Video
PUBLISHED: Sep 30, 2015
DESCRIPTION: Two California Black Tarantulas (female on left). As I stood observing bird wildlife at approximately 6:30pm on 9-29-15, out of the corner of my eye I had noted a large spider about 12 feet away. I was unaware that I had been standing in the vicinity of quite a few Tarantula lairs. Moments later the seldom seen female crawled out of her lair. Initially she did not pursue the male however I knew this would be the inevitable. Ultimately the two crossed paths and this apparent mating session began. Recorded approximately 6:30pm at William F. Riley Wilderness Park in Coto De Caza - southern California (Orange County) on September 29, 2015 at these GPS coordinates: 33°34'8" N 117°35'53" W
Recorded on a Canon 7D Mark II, Canon 100-400 IS USM L lens, Canon 1.4 III Teleconverter. Video has a Pan and Zoom effect, shake reduction and brightness added from 1920x1080 original HD clip.
