From is Tel Aviv-born, LA-based singer/writer/producer Roni Brunn. Her latest EP THE SECRETS THE WHISPERS, mixed by Jacob Cooper (Mae Shi), will be released May 17, 2011 on Brand Records. Brunn's music has recently been featured on CBS' How I Met Your Mother, and the Harvard-educated fashion designer has also been heading labels featured in publications like Vogue, The New York Times, and InStyle. Despite the complexity of layered hooks, From's songs sound rather simple in design, relying very heavily on repeated figures of arrangements. The anthemic melodies showcase Brunn's direct vocal style as the tracks enter an abyss of heavy, droned synth-pop.
THE SECRETS THE WHISPERS is an EP of catchy songs set in lush melodic landscapes. It emerges from the perspective of a spy-esque girl: lots of espionage, high stakes, world conquest, and play. From's rich pop songs sound like a Nico & Kraftwerk version of Magical Mystery Tour, keeping vocals expressive while bringing a refreshing, raw drive to surreal, eccentric order.
