The Attika State is a five piece musical concoction whose origins span oceans. Hailing from Sicily, Malta, Sri Lanka and Wisbech the boys formed as a product of the education system and love of live music. Influenced by everything to do with melody, the band strives to convince the minds of cynics to once again appreciate the beauty of forward thinking melodic rock and roll.
Their discography so far reads: a self-released debut full length, ‘Genesis and Catastrophe’ (2005) and follow up EP ‘Leave Your Dignity At The Door’ in 2007. 2008 was made up of touring and attracting new ears. Both records and live shows collectively have been heralded as shining successes and a ‘promising sign of things to come’.
Having focused on writing for the majority of 2009, their year ended in the studio with producer Dave Eringa (Manics, Idlewild, The Xcerts) fine tuning their sound and ideas into new full length ‘Measures’. Recorded live in in the winter of North Wales, ‘Measures’ is a grandiose and ambitious offering that documents the ups and downs of modern life and the journey the band have taken over the past 18 months.
The Attika State is ready to immigrate back onto your iPod with a new record of prog-pop intellect to blow those cobweb blues away.

Alcopopular 4!7th June 20101.The Horton Shuffle
Tuck in to a feast of PoP…
The Alcopopular range has previously been home to 3” CDs, tapes and treasure maps… But one can really chow down on the new Alcopop Records compilation - which comes in the form of a physical dinner menu!
Split into four sections, starters (gentle acoustic loveliness to whet your appetite), main courses (substantial, stomach trembling pop hits), dessert (the perfect quirky edge to finish) and house wine (Alcopop’s very own finest vintage)… Each listener can peruse the 26 tracks on offer, before personalising their compilation by selecting their preferred tracks from each section, emailing in their order - and receiving their personally crafted 14 track CD compilation and physical menu.
Featuring the likes of The Freelance Whales, Liam Frost, Kevin Devine, Stagecoach and The Xcerts all available to order from the menu, the compilation also boasts the very best in fresh new music – The Candle Thieves, Talons, Ute, The Superfantastics, Muchuu and Person L (ex Starting Line) representing from across the globe.
Oh and for those who believe that music far outweighs concepts, there’s an all you can eat version of the compilation too. Fatty.
