When there is nothing left to steal, extortion of the future is imminent. Yet, The Assembly plot on mercilessly without regard. The new album, entitled "The Future Has Been Sold," is post-dystopic angst riddled with pure pop projections, set to cleanse a once grim palate with healing but cautioned optimism. Gone are anti-totalitarian anthems, replaced instead with impassioned but concise three-and-a-half minute sonic ceremonies. In a world laced with careless cyber self-servicing, The Assembly offer a new sense of controlled musical realism. With Chicago producer Luke Farran, The Assembly hope to achieve new levels of sound science, as each album the bar is notched systematically upward.
The Assembly have been featured guests on Q101's Crash Test Radio, Local 101, Mancow's Morning Madhouse, and Fearless Radio's Live Music Binge. The full-length debut, "The Tide Has Turned", as well as the two previous EPs can be found at Reckless Records, Lori's Planet of Sound, Record Emporium, Hard-Boiled Records, CDBABY.COM, and iTUNES.
PRESS:
"The Assembly are some of the most talented local musicians I've heard in a while, sounding confident and convincing throughout 'The Tide Has Turned.'"
-Chicago Examiner review of The Tide Has Turned
"The self-described electro-rockers hum with energy that at times is moody and atmospheric and at other times forges straightahead with guitar-driven alternative rock, tied together with a polished David Bowie-like vocal delivery"
-Illinois Entertainer review of The Tide Has Turned
"Viewed panoramically, the album makes total sense, and carries us on a journey from our inward selves into the outer world."
-Chicagoist review of The Tide Has Turned
".a direct example of the select few good independent bands coming out with superb music from Chicago."
-One Kind Radio review of The Tide Has Turned
"I bet it’d even get a smile out of the goths dancing at Neo."
-Chicago Reader review of The Tide Has Turned
"The vocal delivery, haunting and echoed, matched with the hook-heavy songwriting, makes the band instantly accessible without sounding derivative (The Smiths are there, sure, but so is some heroin-chic). This is a band to watch."
-New City Chicago
"Check out what industry insiders already know. This ain't your little brother's Warped Tour pop. This is the real shit, and it just might give you a toothache it's so sweet."
-Q101's Local 101
".one more musical entity for Chicagoans to be damn proud of reminding others 'They're from Chicago.'"
-Illinois Entertainer
".their sound is more tailored for the thousands of cheering crowds flooding international music festivals than it is for the small stages of local Chicago clubs."
-Chicagoist.com
"All tunes are first rate, helping cement the group's growing reputation as one of the tastier morsels presently available on the local music smorgasbord."
-Illinois Entertainer review of Paranoia Will Destroya
"These guys have it.they're gonna be stars."
-Q101's Crash Test Radio
