Tha Funxsouljaz

The year was 1991, members of Tha Funxsouljaz had just watched 2 Pac Blow up on "i Get Around" with Digital Undaground. Capitol B a TMS dancer for Pac at around that time was soaking all the game. Dj Ignite was one of not many DJ's holdin it down makin mixtapes for the hoods. Mr Phlex along with Ray Luv where like the only two Emcee's that Santa Rosa had. The Rap era had just began to take off. A few more groups like E-40 and The Click along with Ray Luv got Major deals. The Bay was Hot! Dj Ignite and Capitol B whom had known each other since 7th grade, along with Mr. Phlex decided to start Sonoma Counties first Indi Rap Label Crack Or Jack records. Dj Ignite's Bro 2NV and Vallejo's hood famous Dj Co-V-Co from the Crest joined the group. It was the beginning of a 10 year run at the game.

Tha Funxsouljaz since then have remained tight homies and due to life's changes and some tuff obstacles like the murder of our Dj Covan Vanhook (Co-V-CO) had to take a break as a group. They have fans all over the globe as far Japan and Australia and Ignite's homebase Mexico City. Tha Funxsouljaz have been featured on over 30 Nationally distributed albums. They have been in Magazines and have paid their due's and a respected as one of the hardest workin groups of their era. Since Tha Funxsoujaz own all their rights to their music they are currently planning to re-release a couple of Cd's with assorted classics. Like "Skunk Butta" featuring Baby Bash(Beesh) and N2Deep, "On Tha Run" featuring Assassin, Don Cisco, and SpiderMan. Recorded all at a time when it was about networkin and doin it for fun and not "Imma charge ya this much for a verse" They got tact out and made it happen. Treal Hip-Hoppaz! With the help of Kaos (Mark 7) and V-Town's Vet Johnny Z (N2Deeps "Back 2 Tha Hotel") and Ignite Tha Funxsouljaz managed to drop one Cassette, and 3 full length Cd's. They struggled, hussled and did what they had to to get to the studio. Whom was to think that they would make it this far. Google Tha Funxsouljaz for some history brain food.
