Terry’s music is designed to direct the listener to an intimate relationship with their Heavenly Father, and his life has been a process of developing that communication. His spiritual roots run deep in the Gospel message and music, but Terry went through a period of time shopping through and sampling many lifestyles.
Finally burned out, he pushed away from reality, humiliated to be a human being. In that condition he heard one voice. The voice was familiar. It was Terry’s childhood friend, Jesus. The love of Jesus transformed Terry. He was restored as his dependencies shifted to the One who had answered the question: Is there a reason for this life? A life of intimacy with his “Big Brother” began. His songs are simply windows through which one can see and participate in that private relationship.
Terry’s first recordings WELCOME & MELODIES, were contemporary Christian albums on Good News Records/Word and contained several Christian Music radio “hits” in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. Terry saw the need among believers for more intimate contact with God and realized that the Lord had challenged him to open those windows into his one-on-One personal relationship with Jesus. Those songs and Terry’s personal ministry have led the way to that same intimacy for many and were recorded on albums entitled LIVING WORSHIP and LET’S WORSHIP.
Albums that followed were: HEAVEN IS NOT THAT FAR AWAY, IN THE SECRET PLACE, and Maranatha! Music’s production of LIVE WORSHIP with TERRY CLARK & the MARANATHA! SINGERS.
Roby Duke began producing for Terry in 1993 with the release of U-GADA-NO (taken from the song, “Ugadano Thawanu Maija”). Next came THIS CHRISTMAS, an original musical that portrays the real meaning of Christmas. In 1998 and 2000, Roby produced two more albums entitled LOVE HEALS and ONLY BELIEVE, both portraying Terry’s distinctive vocals and relevant lyrics which again paint a musical picture of God’s love and goodness.
ThePRIZE is the 5th project produced by Roby Duke, and contains remakes of Terry’s songs from the 70’s, including “Let’s Have a Good Time”, “Make A Noise” and “Jesus is at the Wheel”. The entire CD has a variety of musical styles, while revealing the passion of Terry’s heart through fresh expressive lyrics. The focus, of course, continues to be intimate conversation with Jesus and pressing toward the goal of His life living and giving through us.
From 1980 to 2000, Terry's lead vocal was heard on over 65 songs on Maranatha!Music projects, including the Promise Keepers productions. 15 of those original masters were compiled to create the collection of these markers along the journey of Christians during those years. Since the LIVE WORSHIP with TERRY CLARK & the MARANATHA! SINGERS disappeared through Maranatha!Music's many changes in distributors, the need for a live project representing what happens in live appearances, was pressing. Roby Duke had cut in front of the line to Heaven and gone Home early, Bob Somma agreed to be the producer of WE'VE COME TO WORSHIP. Terry and his wife, Nancy, had been involved in a few outreaches into the Spanish-speaking world over the years and they had a few songs they could sing in Spanish for those occasions. In January of 2007, they were invited to go with Potter's Field Ministries to El Salvador.
