Quintessential is defined as “the most perfect embodiment of something.” Such could be said about this group of uber-talented producers holding down the game with class and hitting like a grenade. Finding musical artists, mixtapes, beat makers, producers and the like could currently be compared to finding a “bodega” in the city: one on every corner; variety promised but in over abundance. Yet this trio manages to stand apart and above. When Bryan “Supafly Avi” Trench coincidentally met Dwayne “Reez” Barnes in the summer of 2006 at Boston’s Studio 450, through their mutual friend and mentor, Ted “Topcat aka Apollo Treed” Campbell, it was the beginning of an exceptional partnership; Team A&R was born. As Reez often says, “Everything happens for a reason,” and indeed this duo made their musical mark unique to other artists in Boston. Aside from their Esquire worthy style and gentlemen swag Avi and Reez create hit breeding beats while tapping into their passion for music. Such a craft derives originally from an eclectic mix of genre’s; Hip Hop, R&B, Reggae, and more, resulting in the kind of beat any artist (local or famed) would be excited to hop on. It wasn’t until recently that Avi and Reez became a trio but it proved to be a improvement on the groups part, an “upgrade” if you will, transforming the duo into a more musically powerful trinity. According to Bryan, it was “meant to happen.” Team A&R’s most recent addition, Devon “Dee Loopz” Guillery, was inspired to produce music throughout high school alongside his part-time job at a local record store. The same local record store that Bryan often visited as a teenager; years later it’s simply seems like a reunion. “I knew him then, but we met through networking, local talent events, and just speaking to each other about common goals.” For Team A&R, as they continue to explode throughout Boston and make rapid expansion in Orlando, they grind hard, proving musical ether does exist. Hip-Hop is ever growing and is present in the hearts and minds of many, but truly finding those that were meant to do this, takes a thorough search through the masses. They’re not new to this, their true to this and it’s not for everybody.
