The four tracks that make up Taylor Deupree's STIL are long and ambient, but they each have a texture to them that help bring them to life. "Snow/Sand," for instance, has a granular iciness that wavers between acceleration and stillness. "Recur" bounces back and forth between the left and right channels restlessly, and "Temper" has more warmth to it, thanks to its harmonics, before it shifts to a more meditative mood. The title track stands in place and vibrates for its long running time. A lovely, quiet work.
