DESCRIPTION:
Saluting Natasja Saad (October 31, 1974 -- June 24, 2007)

June 24th, marks one year since the passing of the beloved Natasja Saad, the talented Danish Reggae star whose music remains steadfast on the charts as well as in the hearts of many. In celebrating the life of this Reggae Sensation, Big Tings Music releases exclusive footage of Natasja's last stage performance, at the Portmore Awards in St. Catherine, Jamaica recorded only a few hours before her untimely death. This exclusive content can be seen at the Big Tings Music website, http://www.myspace.com/bigtingsmusic or via Big Tings Music's YouTube page at http://youtube.com/user/BigTingsMusic. Watch as Natasja is brought on stage by friend, Lady G, following which she delivers a stellar performance.

Significantly, Natasja's childhood friend, Karen Mukupa, who is currently in Jamaica, today spearheaded a tree planting exercise along the Hellshire Main Road in St. Catherine, Jamaica (at the site where Natasja's car accident occurred). As Natasja was fond of mangoes, having had a mango tree in a garden in Kingston, Jamaica of which she was extremely proud, a Bombay Mango tree was planted in her honour. In a private gathering which included Karen and other of Natasja's closest friends, a plaque was erected with tiles and messages from Natasja's mother and sister.

Whilst in Jamaica, Karen Mukupa has also been doing work geared towards the compilation of a documentary as well as a novel on Natasja's life story. Karen had this to say about the documentary. "There is a huge story to tell. [Many persons] knew her as an artiste but didn't know her personal side [for which they] would love her even more." Co-producer of the documentary along with Karen Mukupa will be Pharphar and Director, Andreas Jonsen. Although a name has yet to be decided the documentary will feature aspects of Natasja's life dating from as early as 1990 (for example, Natasja at ages 13/14) inclusive of footage of her working with horses, at the studio in Denmark and at stage shows in Jamaica.

As for the novel, on the local scene interviews with well-known personalities who were familiar with Natasja such as Lady G, Ron Muschette, Little Hero and GT Taylor have already been conducted while interviews with Ninja Man and Vegas are in the works. Out of Denmark, rappers, producers, persons from the theatre with which Natasja was involved as well as artistes with which Natasja collaborated, such as Keith Murray, will contribute. Karen stated that the novel will tell of, "Natasja's ups and downs, people she met...[Natasja,] the person who was easy to love." Working on the novel with with Karen is journalist and friend, Rasmus Poulsen. The plan is to release the novel in Denmark (in Danish) on October 31st, Natasja's birthday.

Her music continuing to take the world by storm, Natasja's infectious hit single "Calabria," having become incredibly popular internationally, now adds to its accolades being the second featured track on VP Records' well respected compilation, "Reggae Gold 2008." Additionally, another project to look out for is Natasja's English album, "Shooting Star," slated to be released in Japan in around July or August of this year.
