Burnt Sugar Presents DRIVA MAN/FREEDOM DAY w/Vernon Reid, Tamar-Kali+Marque Gilmore - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 02, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
In 1999 the Black Rock Coalition Orchestra was invited to the Black Arts Festival in Atlanta by then-director Laura Greer to perform the music of Max Roach and Abbey Lincoln 'Inna Drum and Bass Style'. Vernon Reid created this arrangement of ''Driva Man'' in collaboration with vocalist Tamar-Kali and 'The Inna-Most', drummer Marque Gilmore. Our Good Brudda Brian Michael Bacchus worked at Blue Note Records at the time and fronted us some cheddar to record with engineer/producer Peter Wetherbee. This is our favorite track from those sessions.
