Sylvain Cossette was born on 8th May 1963, in Grand-Mère, in the Maurice region of Québec. He educated himself musically, and never took music or singing lessons, he is 100% self taught!



1980: Sylvains career began. He took the initiative of forming the English language band, 'Paradox', for which he was the lead singer, and his brother, François Jr. was the guitarist. They released two albums, 'Paradox' and 'Obvious Puzzle', before disbanding in 1991.



1992: Sylvain was offered his own recording contract with 'Les Disques Victoire'.



1994: Sylvain released his first solo album in french, 'Comme l'océan'. It was during this year at the Gala L'ADISQ awards show, he was gievn the unique opportunity of performing the 10 most popular songs of the year, which allowed the public to discover the richness and power of his voice.



1995: Sylvain spent most of this year touring.



1996: Sylvain released his second solo album, 'Blanc'.



1997: Sylvain had one of his biggest hits to date, 'Que je t'aime'.



1998: Sylvain signed to Universal Music in France for the release of the album 'Blanc'. It was also during this year that Luc Plamondon offered him the role of 'Gringoire' in the French production of 'Notre-Dame de Paris'.



1999: Sylvain released his third solo album, 'Humain'. He also played the role of 'Gringoire' in 'NDdP' in Paris, Montréal and on tour across Québec.



2000: Sylvain continued with the Canadian tour playing 'Gringoire' and returning to Paris. He then received an unexpected call from the producers of 'NDdP' and within days was flying to London to make his West End debut playing 'Gringoire', having only ever played the role in French.



2001: Sylvain released his fourth solo album, 'Rendez-vous'. He was also awarded a Gold disc for 50,000 sales of 'Humain'.



2002: 'Rendez-vous' received Platinum status with over 100,000 sales.



2003: Sylvain released his first ever DVD and video of the tour 'Rendez-vous'.



2004: Sylvain took a break from his career, but he finished the year with his latest album 'Compilation 1994/2004', which signified the end of his contract with 'Les Disques Victoire' and the formation of his own company.



2005: Sylvain toured across Québec with a very intimate show entitled 'En Solo'.



2006: Sylvain continued his 'En Solo' tour. This year also saw the premiere of a new musical, 'Dracula, entre l'amour et la mort', in which Sylvain created the role of 'Jonathan Harker'.



2007: Sylvain finished his 'En Solo' tour before creating a new show 'Parcours', which was a huge success running at the Casino de Montréal. Sylvain released his '70's' album on 2nd October in Canada and after just 4 weeks Sylvain received a Gold Disc.



2008: In January Sylvain re-created the role of 'Jonathan Harker' in 'Dracula, entre l'amour et la mort' in France. He received a Platinum Disc for sales of his '70's' album and is currently touring across Québec with his '70's' tour. In October Sylvain received a Felix award for English album of the year for his '70's' album, and following on from this success he released Volume 2 of '70's' in this month. In November he received a Gold Certificate for his '70's' tour and the album '70's Vol. 2'.



2009: After the release of his album '70's' 2 years earlier, Sylvain had obtained some amazing recognition with No. 1 albums, Gold Discs, Platinum Discs, Felix Awards, Juno nominations, Gold Certificates. Congratulations Sylvain!!! Well deserved.
