Swashbuckler

Jason Delamar tried desperately for years to break into the children's literature business. His deranged works, however, were considered unacceptable in most parenting circles.
Depressed, Delamar moved to the coast where he met Sea Captain Eric Lee. Lee had just come back from an extensive steamboat exploration of the Congo. Lee convinced Delamar to put his warped children's stories to music, and together the duo began to construct superfluous maritime garage-pop.
This songwriting team stumbled across Aaron Westerfield, begging on the street. With no money to contribute to his cause, Delamar donated the only thing he had in his pockets, a casette of songs he and Captain Lee had recorded. Upon hearing the tape in a "borrowed" car tape deck, Westerfield immediately decided to take up drums to transform this duo into a full band.
Lee sold his boat and bought a set of drums for Westerfield to play. Finally, the band complete, Voyles dubbed them "Swashbuckler" as a constant reminder of the events that led to their creation and in gratitude to Lee for trading his seafaring vessel for the love of music.
