Supergalo is gonna play in the biggest cultural marathon of one of the biggest cities of the world, São Paulo. Named "Virada cultural" the event is gonna be around 24 ininterrupt hours of music happenning alll over the city on the weekend of 26 and 27 of april. Supergalo is gonna play on the alternative stage " Palco Monstro". Fun! Fun! Fun!
A ironia virulenta do punk, a contestação do rock de Brasília e a turbina incendiária de uma banda que já nasceu na estrada. Com essas credenciais, o Supergalo chega à cena musical brasileira e apresenta seu rock sem frescura, com melodias afiadíssimas e letras que vão da acidez provocativa ao romantismo sem bla, bla, bla. Formado por quatro filhos da capital federal, com experiências anteriores em importantes bandas (Raimundos, Maskavo Roots, Rumbora), o grupo roda o país e o exterior em shows com ótima aceitação. O giro já rendeu o primeiro registro - ainda sem formato definido para chegar ao público, CD, pen drive ou download – que em breve chegará ao mercado.
O grupo foi formado em 2006. Gravou uma fita demo que logo se destacou no site Trama Virtual, rendendo muitos convites para shows já naquele ano. Desde então, o grupo rodou festivais na Europa (Alemanha, Holanda e República Tcheca), para onde voltarão em breve, Argentina e Brasil afora. Quando se escuta o Supergalo, o que se experimenta é uma crônica cinematográfica, trilha demencial dos tempos modernos, com riffs e levadas fatais para cardíacos e uma poética de surrar os hipócritas. Há agressividade e humor precisos neste trabalho. Com saídas espertas e ótimos diretos na cara, o Supergalo veio preparado para um luta de muitos, mas muitos assaltos. Pode apostar.

It started as discharge for anger and a desire to rediscover the fun of playing rock ‘n roll. It was October 2005 when Alf phoned Fred asking if he would like to have a new start, a new band… Epic punk… Extreme and ironic on one side, deep lyrics and music on the other…
At the time both of them were playing in Raimundos, one of the most important rock bands in Brazilian music history, but they had many influences that didn’t match the sound… Before Raimundos, Alf had been in such bands as Rumbora, in which he sang and played the guitar and the bass, released 3 albums (produced the third) with several rock hits in Brazil and played, among many other important facts, in Rock in Rio 3… And Câmbio negro, one of the biggest rap groups on that particular scene in Brazil, in which he played the bass. But the best was yet to come and they needed another partner for this entreperneurship… It was on their face, to be more accurate, on their right side, but it took some time: On april 2006, Marquim, the guitar player of Raimundos, joined the band… On the first week, with only a few hours of rehearsal, 10 songs were ready and, following the “do it yourself” punk motto, recorded for the first demo of the band in Marquim’s bedroom… The next step would be to find the name… The idea was clear: just like the first songs, the name should have impact and irony on the same can… After many days of debate, watching a tv interview with the Brazilian worldwide boxing champion Popó, the answer came: Supergalo! A boxing category full of energy and 55 kg fighters…The obvious thing at the time would be to get all the contacts they had previously and send the demo, but no… They really wanted a fresh start… Put the songs on the internet (Myspace, Tramavirtual, etc.) with fake names and let the people judge the sound… With just a few days they were acclaimed with the positive hand sign of the site Tramavirtual (the biggest download by band website in Brazil) and started the week in number one on that particular site gaining several downloads and attracting the attention of the news department of Mtv Brazil where they turned into a local hit… The road called and, Soon enough, an Mtv vj discovered their identities, invited them for an interview on Mtv News and a live appearance was scheduled on the program of Ratos de Porão’s lead singer, João Gordo… The galo was unleashed…
In the begginning of 2007, the split had to come, Alf and Fred left Raimundos and Marquim stayed there…In very short time, a new galo was added: Daniel Arara, Alf’s longtime friend and impressive bass player, joined the band and in one month the band was back on the road starting the Brazilian carnival in Salvador, playing rock ‘n roll to streets full of people eager to hear sambareggae and axé music and rocking them inside out, then to the multi-cultural Recife and Rio de Janeiro…Right after this, the band finally gets their fourth element, after the brilliant suggestion of a friend: the longtime partner and friend Marcelo Vourakis, who had been in many important bands of the brazilian scene such as Maskavo Roots and Cabeloduro, closes the circle… Now there was no joke anymore, the band was ready… And so they went… played from north to south of Brazil, winning reputation show after show, from underground clubs to the most important festivals of the indie scene… Were opening acts for Mudhoney, Sepultura and The Bellrays…Were nominees for best newcomers… Made an Argentinian tour making the South American neighbours go crazy with the intensity of their show and the melodies of their songs… All accomplished with no album released, just songs on the internet.To finish the year at a high level, they finally record their glorious and furious songs for an upcoming debut and In the middle of the storm, Supergalo was invited to an European tour and an EP was prepared with five of the new recordings… It was a tour of extremes, the knock-out started on the Headshrinker Festival in Germany (with shows at the Centrum in Erfurt and the Muffathalle in Munich), with rave up reviews in Der Spiegel Online and German blogs, then to the astonishingly beautiful Prague (Blues Sklép) in Czech Republic, back to Germany in Berlin (Wild at heart, in Kreüzberg, a neighborhood that inspired geniuses such as David Bowie, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop), then to a Squat in Emmem (Huize Spoorloos) in Netherlands and finishing the tour rocking a bunker in Aachen (AZ Aachen) in Germany again… The T-shirts and EPs vanished away and are probably making some european’s lives more energetic…
That was only the warm-up. 2008 is for real.
