Sun of New York was born in Rochester,N.Y. in the 80's. Its in Roch. where he developed his artisty of lyrics. He's alway been able to freestyle at the drop of a dime, but never really put much interest in actually being an all out Emcee until his childhood friend Curtis Arline III (L.I.) called and said "I wrote a rap listen". L.I. wrote his 1st song listening to Nas's "Illmatic". Knowing that his friend SunN.Y. was able to "spit" he was the 1st person L.I. contacted. Influenced off the fact that his friend whom was only known for reciting songs from some of their favorite artist had written a verse SunN.Y. picked up a pen and begin to write!

There careers got a breath of life after a local dj named DJ Tech9 (Dorian) spotted them in a talent show at M.C.C. He offered the 2, to come by his crib to listen to beats and record along side Marty and Shalom. Never really being a 100% into being artist the situation faded. Both continued to write and enter talent shows here and there under the name "The Goodfellaz".

Growing up in Rochester,N.Y. the influence of the streets soon drove emceeing to the back.

It wasnt until 2000 an associate of Jazzy Kennedi introduced him to the young emcee SunN.Y. Jazzy was searching for a artist to feature on a track and he suggested SunN.Y. Impressed by his work and lyrics on the track, Jazz invited SunN.Y. to ATL. Thus would be the 1st time SunN.Y. ever experianced the city of Atlanta. With demo in hand they proceded to various studios in hopes of making "IT" happen. Due to complex situations SunN.Y. returned to Rochester once again putting his talent to the back burner.

Then in 2002 it seemed once again SunN.Y. had found his way from up under the black cloud thats has plague the streets of Rochester and its urban youth for many years. This time his childhood friend C.J. "Murder" had a job offer for the both of them. Which resulted in relocating to ATL. Once the move was made, at work SunN.Y. and Murder would listen to HOT 107.9 They tuned into CoCo Brothers show "The Hometeam". Where on Friday nites emcees would battle live on air. With a pass from work to leave early SunN.Y. was able to participate in the battles winning several times. Once again due to a run in with the law he was force to return home. Having tasted the chance to really be heard he vowed to return to ATL.

While in Roch. for 2003 he recorded a demo with Famed dj G-Nyce. He never released much material besides to friends and family. His friend Shamon Wilkans was home from Clark University at the time. He heard the cd and offered SunN.Y. a place to stay in ATL. SunN.Y. accepted and returned to ATL in Feb. of 2004. A week back in a place where he felt he can make "IT" happen. His 1st mission was to return to CoCo Brothers show and regain his Championship title on the freestyle circuit. He held his title from that Friday in Feb. til' his retirement Friday on 106 & Park. Which was a year!!!

106 & Park fame gain the eyes of music industry mogul Jermaine Dupri. Who came on 106 & Park and offered SunN.Y. a deal on his SOSODEF lable. SunN.Y. accepted. The run with J.D. earned SunN.Y. 2 videos "Soul of A Hustler" and "Introduction" ft. JD and Lexx Dirty. Soul of A Hustler got SunN.Y. verse of the month in the September 2005 issue of the Source. A 1st time a new artist recieved that acknowledgement for their 1ST SONG RELEASED. "Felt like a Grammy" said SunN.Y.

Since his album "Overnight Celebrity" was never released SunN.Y. parted ways with Virgin Records The parent company at the time for SOSODEF.

He's released numerous mixtapes and is doing shows nationwide. He is currently a Fix Ya' Face/ Shadyville aphilliate.

HipHop is a way of life. Something you do regardless. And thats the way of life SunN.Y. lives and breathes. All I can say is that The Sun is out Global warming is amongst us Prepare for evaporation for there is no evacuation.
