Lady DaKween

Lady Dakween is probably one of the most surprising female artist you'll get to know. At the age of 14 she starts playing the guitar and composing songs inspired by different genres of music and artists such as Lauryn Hill, Tracy Chapman and Nirvana. Her lyrics are mostly inspired by the numerous trips she made during her childhood in South America (Colombia) and Africa. While living in Spain where she spent 5 years she wrote and composed more than 30 acoustic songs and made local concerts with Amalya a talentuous soul artist and also her best friend. She kept making music and of course going to school at the same time.

A few years later she moves to Bordeaux to study cinema and filmmaking in college and always kept going on writing songs and composing. Her first rap song was « My Introduction Song » which revealed her skills and an unexpected american flow. Therefore, from the acoustic guitar riffs to the electronic beats she kept moving on to new hip hop sounds but also urban reggaeton ones, recording in Madrid as well as in Bordeaux. Thanks to the internet she got a small buzz among some hip hop and reggaeton artists in the US and in the UK. As in France she made a few collaborations with David Delepierre and Rafee McCamery producers from Medina Soundz label in Lille. She wrote club songs like 'No me vendo' or the rap-ballad song 'So Long' where you can hear our first class lady rap, sing and play the guitar all in one. She also made shows in Nantes and a few rap concerts in Bordeaux with talented rappers such as Black Kent, Simple King, Simon or Bizzy Bibs from hip hop band 99 Pro-G. In 2007, she is the only female rapper singin among 28 rappers in the mixtape entitled « 33 S'EXPORTE » produced by Hannibal Smith and Dj Sims. And it's just the beginning.



In november 2009 she releases the mixtape First Class Lady mixed by DJ Kimfu and produced by The Symphonix (2000 downloads in 2 months). The buzz increases when she makes an appearance on Black Kent American album "Yes I Kent" with the song "Do The Damn Thang" (prod by Haze - Konvict Music). Lady Dakween is now working on her solo album while making shows in France. Stay tuned for 2011!

Lady DaKween est une jeune artiste qui va certainement en étonner plus d'un de par son talent et de son parcours musical. A tout juste 14 ans elle apprend a jouer à la guitare, inspirée d'artistes tels que Lauryn Hill, Tracy Chapman ou Nirvana et commence à écrire ses premiers textes inspirés de sa vie et de ses voyages en Amérique latine et en Afrique.



En Espagne, un des pays où elle a vécu, elle compose une trentaine de chansons en chant-guitare et participe à des concerts locaux avec Amalya, une jeune chanteuse a la voix soul et sa meilleure amie, elle continue la musique tout en suivant sa scolarité dans des lycées français.



Elle s'installe à Bordeaux pour suivre des études supérieures de cinéma et parallèlement elle compose des chansons en anglais. Passionnée par le hip hop US, elle écrit son premier texte « My Introduction Song » révélant un flow américain hors du commun. Des riffs de guitares acoustiques, elle passe aux beats électriques et enchaine les enregistrements de sons hip hop et reggaeton, si bien à Madrid qu'à Bordeaux. Grace à la magie d'Internet, elle réussit à se faire remarquer par des artistes de la scène hip hop et reggaeton aux Etats-Unis ainsi qu'en Angleterre.



En France elle participe à des showcases à Nantes et à des concerts hip hop à Bordeaux auprès de talentueux rappeurs comme Black Kent, Simple King, Simon ou Bizzy Bibs, membres du 99 pro-G. En 2007 lle s'impose dans la mixtape « 33 S'EXPORTE » (Hannibal Smith et DJ Sims) avec le titre « Where you at! » étant ainsi la seule fille MC parmi les 28 meilleurs rappeurs de Bordeaux.



Mais c'est en novembre 2009 qu'elle sort sa toute première mixtape First Class Lady mixée par DJ Kimfu avec à la production The Symphonix (Black Kent, Tyron Carter, Gued1) en téléchargement libre (2000 téléchargements en deux mois).

Son buzz s'accroit davantage lorsqu'elle fait une apparition sur l'album américain de Black Kent "Yes I Kent" (révélation du rap français et anglophone) avec un titre club banger "Do The Damn Thang" (produit par Haze - Konvict Music).



Lady Dakween ne s'arrête pas, actuellement elle travaille sur son prochain album prévu pour 2011 tout en faisant des concerts en France.
