A bit of history.



Way back in 1996: Max Casacci (formerly guitar player of Africa Unite, Italy's greatest reggae band) decides to build up an “unidentified musical object”, recruiting singer Samuel Romano and keyboard player Boosta in order to create something that's never been heard before: a group able to combine classy melodic lines with the pulsating of club culture's best expressions, and brave enough to use and fuse elements of diverse musical styles such as jamaican music or alt-rock. With extra-valuable help of a superb rhythm section (drummer Ninja, one of the few capable of interacting with sampled rhythms with creativity and precision, and funk-driven bass player Pierfunk), SUBSONICA are born.



One year later: an album has been released (simply titled “Subsonica”), voice gets spreading and a stunning performance at 1997's Mtv Day in Reggio Emilia before U2's gig (in front of an audience of 150,000) gives the group a considerable recognition and exposure.



1999 sees the release of their second album, “Microchip Emozionale”. That's a true turning point: finally a supposed “alternative” act gets a surprising and constant response by mainstream media and audiences, and the numbers get growing more and more - all that without losing on ounce of the group's artistic identity and credibility (and always believing in the power of playing live). And at the end of the year Subsonica fly directly to Stockholm: they've been voted as the “Best Italian Act” at the MTV European Awards.



Year 2001 is spent in on writing the material for the new album, “Amorematico”, released at the beginning of 2002. The group broadens its musical spectrum: and there comes the definitive consecration. 100,000 copies sold, a tour that has gathered something like 350,000 people, a subsequent live album (“Controllo Del Livello Di Rombo”, 2003) that gave birth to another leg of the tour (30 gigs more), another MTV Award as “Best Italian Act”.



Such a constant uprising is based on a continuous longing for artistic development. “Terrestre”, 2005, shows that at its best: Subsonica maintain their trademark while exploring new sounds (more rock oriented, but always incorporating groove and electronics). The album gets at 1 of the Italian charts (just one month after the release, the album is already over 110,000 copies sold). On stage, they manage to grow bigger but not too big - because music comes always first, even when interacting with arty videos on megascreens and spectacular lightwork.



… so here we go again!



Year 2007. November, 23 is the date of the release of the new album called L'Eclissi.

Tour 2007: starting in November, 8 concerts in 20 days at the most important Italian locations such as sport arenas. And this seems to be only the beginning. Subsonica is getting more and more famous not only in Italy. The new video of the band - La Glaciazione - is already on Russian TV.

L'Eclissi will be released in Russia. And who knows perhaps in some months the Russian fans of the band will be able to enjoy the concert of Subsonica here in Russia.
