''Everbody deserves a little rockabilly in their lives.and if twang's your thang, Mr Smiths got it in buckets. From the lowdown, honest-to-goodness stomp of ' This Violent Heart' and ' Kicking Machine' to the tender strumming of 'Time', JD Smith's take on old-fashioned rock and blues is charming and toe-tappin', delivered with a directness and honesty that tips it's hat to the spirit of Charlie Feathers and other long-gone knee-tremblers.''-Bizarre Magazine
''J.D. Smith was astounding, a Rockabilly and blues one man guitar wunderkind. Not only was his guitar work, vocals and songs top notch, but he seemed at ease to play through his set of bareboned Rockabilly-Country. The crowd was equally appreciative too, and he - for me - was the surpise package of the night.'' Distorted magazine, review taken from the Vic Ruggiero (Slackers) gig at the Windmill on the 3rd November 2008.
'' Nobody that I have seen recently does this stuff like JD; this stuff being blues/rockabilly. The pace is relentless as he rocks his way through one after another powerful rockabilly gem, pausing this time only for the slightly more sedate "Doghouse Blues". His guitar style is a mixture of slide and chord and his vocals earthy and wild. An experience not to be missed.''Peter Coulston - Seatwave
'' The warm-up act had been a refreshing acoustic Country-Rockabilly set from J.D. Smith, who had, apparently, obligingly come off the street that afternoon to play the opening slot as the support band had cried off! The tone for the gig had thus been set by this energetic one-man-band who filled the stage from the floors to the vaulted rafters with his jangly wall-of-noise slide-guitar. ''-livemusic.fm

'' Sounds like an Elvis for the modern era'' - 8/10 - The Music Magazine
'' Fascinatingly bareboned rockabilly gothique.'' - Bugbear bookings
''These tracks jitter along with a barely contained energy and excitement and real passion to match Smith's technically faultless playing. You sort of imagine this is what it must have been like to hear this music for the first time before it got tired with use and reuse.'' - Bubblegum Slut
'' Combining acoustic rockabilly with a punk sensibility this is acoustic artistry at it's finest. '' - The List
