Based in Bradford,W.Yorkshire, England,STRUCK NORTH PRODUCTIONS & STUDIOS work with & alongside various producers,artists,writers & poets within the U.K. & abroad.So far there is an umberella of band members who collaborate together aswell as having solo projects.Vic Wilford is the founder of STRUCK NORTH,but before that he started out in the early eighties in a band called ’The Passmore Sisters’.The ’Sisters’ gigged in & around Bradford until disbanding to do art degrees & the like later.Vic is a prolific poet,singer/songwriter & artist having a B.A(Hons) in painting & illustration, & an M.A.in printmaking from Bradford Art College.The artwork he has produced has been viewed in Europe & Britain with prestigious shows such as ’HYBRIDA’-the north’s premier print biennial & ’THE IDA BRANSON MEMORIAL BEQUEST EXHIBITION’-one of the countries top printmaking shows!
Currently Vic is working on his own album which will be released later this year alongside
Rob O’Leary(one of the best house producers i’ve come across)who goes under the guise of ’BAD HAIR DAYZ’ & Retroflare Recordings.Rob’s own,soon to be released album ’Everything Past Becomes Present’ has been a labour of love for Rob,Vic & Zjaki a.k.a Jackie Hole(a brilliant female vocalist).Rob has produced all the music & done the arrangement on both albums, whilst Vic has written all his own album tracks & a large number on Robs’.
Before Vic started to work with Rob O’Leary he also worked with ’Strongpoint’ a Bradford based duo consisting of John Khan(producer) & Karin Minnot(writer & vocalist).Unfortunately after around two years the then trio parted company which lead to Vic setting up ’STRUCK NORTH’.Other projects such as ’NORTHERN TALES’ (a poetry E.P.) & ’RUDYARDS’ DELICATE ESSENCE’ (a concept E.P./Album)are getting nearer to completion but still in the making.
1st BORN PRODUCTIONS is a 15 year old bassline producer/D.J. smashing it up in clubs all over the country,namely Vics’ son Reuben Wilford.Reuben produces 4x4 Bassline House,U.K. Garage,R & B,Grime,Electro & Dubstep & is also an accomplished singer/songwriter/rapper who is the other half of the urban duo ’NU-FLO’ with Louis Francis a.k.a.’Shadowman’.
Their album ’MUTE THE T.V.’ should be out later this year but until then Reuben is currently collaborating with many vocalists such as ’TAMZIN’(featured with T2),’DENICA’(Huddersfield),
’LOIS’(Manchester),’THE DESTINY SISTERS’(Huddersfield),’LEON YT’(Midlands) & ’JOY BROOKS’(Bradford),to name just a few.The manager behind ’1st BORN’ & ’NU-FLO’,is,you guessed it, Vic Wilford(oh! it’s a busy life!)
Other people Vic works with & alongside are Simon McDonald(multi talented musician & percussionist),Dave Donn(excellent producer & engineer),Yogi(another multi talented musician ,singer & producer), Michael Alves(S.M.V.Studio manager & producer)& another genius musician Chris Dawkins a.k.a. Earl Tutu who has worked with numerous top artists & bands all over the world.
All in all there’s a lot to do & much to accomplish but we must work hard especially with the youth, in order to pass on a better, more positive mentality with patience and love,’NEVER DESPISING THE DAY OF SMALL THINGS’,or forgetting the humble backgrounds we’ve all come from.GOD BLESS!!
