ABOUT STEVE

Born in Vancouver, Canada and raised on beer and Neil Diamond.

He walked through a ravine to elementary school and drove a Chevy Newport ‘69 straight to New York City after graduating high school.

He began playing the guitar because he was grounded often.

The family consensus was that since Steve spent so much time confined to his room for various misdeeds that he ought to occupy his time with something constructive.

The more he messed up the better the music became.

Truly Canadian jobs like tugboat hand and sawman were a few of the formative occupations.

Apparently, if there was “danger pay” involved, Steve wanted in.

As music became increasingly central to his life, he took to the road and traveled across continents collecting stories.

After living in his van for the better part of two years traipsing around the West Coast, he found himself in Los Angeles and began to sing.

Nic Harcourt at KCRW radio in Los Angeles was an early champion of his music, which has led to years of touring and adventure.

His first record “Exile” was critically received as was his constantly evolving live show.

That album focused on leaving things behind.while the new record “The Carnival Papers”, released in June 2008, explores the current state of being.

For this record, Steve removed himself to a cabin in the woods of Canada to write it, flew to the lush countryside of France to record it with Producer David Odlum (the Frames, Gemma Hayes etc) and finally to Los Angeles to finish and mix it.

The result is a beautiful collection of songs that will all at once take you to the heart of the acoustic guitar and soar to the heights of distortion.

Catch Steve ‘live’ in a town near you soon .

"Forsaken" Video

"Steve Reynolds is a name we've been hearing a bit lately. The talented guitar player/songwriter hails from Southern California (Canada, originally) and has unearthed a heavy amount of mellow gold on his new album The Carnival Papers. "Save Your Best" shows off his stellar, finger-picking style and layers that with one of his most emotional, whispering melodies." - iTunes

LA Weekly:Song/Artist pick of the week

Steve Reynolds folk influenced style of writing and skillful guitar playing will certainly turn heads. His emotional live performance is a must see, solo or with a band. His music can be heard on KCRW, and people are catching on. His new CD "Exile" is available on his website, and is worth checking out!

"Exile" is a musical manifesto written and performed with intimacy and grace. Distilled in the music is the life experience of an artist willing to take risks to satisfy an irrepressibly curious soul and all that entails—indulgence, wanderlust, love, lost love, joy and a lot of pain, youthful run-ins with the law, full release, redemption and resultant wisdom. The stories contained are at once personal and universal--steeped in a depth of experience that belies his age.

Call him mercurial. The Canadian expat troubadour has established a solid

fanbase from his new home in Echo Park, California with performances that keep

them guessing as to how he’ll throw it down that night. Solo acoustic

w/finger-plucking flair (he’s an extraordinary guitarist), rockin’ quartet,

levitation-inducing quintet with a keyboardist providing shimmering

ambience…it’s never less than wonderful. Captivated audiences at the Hotel Café

are in on one of the best kept secrets in Los Angeles and the rest of the world

for that matter.
