STEVE DAWSON - BIO:
I'm a guitar player, writer and singer who got musically hooked after hearing Chicago's "Saturday In The Park", while riding in the backseat of an orange Pontiac Le Mans, somewhere in New York. The group KISS was discovered, shortly thereafter I then acquired a few sets of drums, some guitars, a Shure SM57 microphone and a Tascam cassette multitrack machine and proceeded to record anything that vibrated. And I still doSOME INTERESTING FACTS:------------------------------------- I do play the majority of the instruments heard on my recordings. I have performed in many countries, have been on the T.V. (notably The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, in the U.S.) & done lots of radio shows across the globe. Here are some cool things - I've performed "Hungry Heart" & "Rosalita" with Bruce Springsteen, Ronnie Spector & Jesse Malin at Carnegie Hall, at a sold-out tribute show to Bruce, performed at Lincoln Center at the ASCAP Foundation 11th Annual Awards Ceremony at Frederick P. Rose Hall in NYC, beat Lou Reed at a game of "Pole Position" & once got so drunk with Zakk Wylde from Ozzy Osbourne's band that I cannot believe I am still alive - those 4 things were pretty special.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I'm the co-founder of a project with Randy Lord, THE FUZZ HAUNTED, who, by Billboard Magazine and Discmakers, were placed in the top 6 out of 800 band submissions (so they told us), to perform at a NYC event in late 2007 for a $50,000 grand prize. We didn't get that prize but The Fuzz Haunted's debut release was the primary record chosen & featured on NPRs' debut podcast for their "ALL SONGS CONSIDERED" program in April 2006 - and to us, that was way cooler. Randy Lord & I are also a part of SLIMBOT, which was conceived by Jamey Lord. SLIMBOT is a provocative, stimulating audio assault on all senses - I've created incredible music and sounds with these two guys for the past 20 years and whenever we build new, inspiring pieces, it still feels like the first time. Randy & Jamey are my main dudes.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, During my time spent assisting engineers at recording studios in New York City, I worked with alot of seriously kick-ass musicans & rock stars & assisted on the first "legitimate" mix & release of the "The Rolling Stones Rock & Roll Circus" film at The Magic Shop in Soho, NYC. I also learned how to properly empty ash trays and brew the perfect pot of coffee.
Also available is the soundtrack score to "ABSENCE", a psychological thriller written & directed by Kevin Kolsch & Dennis Widmyer, along with Chuck Palahniuks' executive production assistance. Written, recorded and mixed in 3 days, under the name "THE ALDENTE QUAKERS", this was a complete collaborative production by myself, Jamey Lord & Randy Lord, completed in 2007. I currently live in NYC and keep a busy schedule with many talented bands & solo artists. I am also an active guitar teacher who's had hundreds of students over many years. I love turning new people on to the instrument and absolutely love getting involved in new musical situations with ambitious artists. I am a songwriter, proudly affiliated with BMI.
