On a snowy, cold January winter night, David M. Graham A.K.A. Spotlight was born. As A baby in a 2 parent household, Spotlight lived in poverty. With his father strung out on cocaine and alcohol, it drastically led to an abusive relationship with Spotlight’s mother. His mother was constantly working to support the family and his father just stayed home terrorizing himself and everything around him. About 3 years after the birth of Spotlight, him and his mother moved away from his father where things got quite a bit better. With his sister fresh out of rehab for crack-cocaine, she got an apartment with her now husband where they would take care of Spotlight as if he were their own.

A while after, Spotlight was placed in pre-kindergarten where his family began to notice he had behavior problems. All through school he excelled academically but he was placed on medication due to his major lack of self-control. He felt inept from his family and peers because of his extreme temper. At age 13 he turned to the streets where he discovered his passion for music. While still continuing to get into trouble in school, Spotlight started dancing as a way to ease his mind from the pain he endured as a child. He went to parties all over Harlem, Washington Heights, The Bronx and Queens where he made a name for himself along with his friends. But like any other troubled teen growing up without a father in the rough streets of Harlem and The Bronx, Spotlight began drinking, smoking, and selling drugs.

At age 14, Spotlight was arrested for Gun Possession and a Stolen Car. After only 2 months in High School, he was automatically placed in an “alternative school” for juveniles. With past frustration and the use of drugs taking a toll, Spotlight awolled from home and the “school” that was appointed to him by his judge. He then started a relationship with his friends aunt and stayed 2 blocks away from where his court appointed school was. Basically he was on his own already.

Eventually Spotlight made his way back to his mothers house 1 night and passed out. When he awoke, 2 police officers escorted him out of his mothers house where they placed him under arrest for a warrant. 3 weeks later he was released where he then realized his mother would no longer spoil something that was already rotten. He then began selling drugs again. 2 months later he got arrested again and was sent 9 hours upstate for 15 months. Fresh out of jail, 7 hours back into the city, Spotlight was greeted by his “friends” and fell back into the negativity. Now on parole, he was expected to abide by a curfew givin to him by his parole officer which he never followed. Somehow after he got off parole after 90 days and was entered into a GED program.

Now interacting with new faces, he was always told he should write poetry because of his way with words. He then began writing poetry and a after a while decided to turn them into rap’s with extra inspiration from a close friend of his at the time. Spotlight dropped out of school and decided to pursue his dream full time. To make a tremendous and controversial story short, Spotlight is now waiting for his chance to finally show his mom and the rest of the world that you can turn make good music out of negative situations and turn them into positive actions. No one is immune to the trials and tribulations of life. He is the hottest artist unsigned with a name people crave. SPOTLIGHT. Get Ready!
