About Me:

How do I describe myself. i dunno. This is what a personality test described me as: "messy, tough, disorganized, fearless, not rule conscious, likes the unknown, rarely worries, rash, attracted to the counter culture, rarely irritated, positive, resilient, abstract, not a perfectionist, risk taker, strange, weird, self reliant, leisurely, dangerous, anti-authority, trusting, optimistic, positive, thrill seeker, likes bizarre things, sarcastic" Pretty spot on I think.

Musically I've done loads of shit over the years. My whole life has revolved around music.or actually art. I feel like a wanker talking about art and how its missing in music.but hey what can I sayi'm a loser. i like my hip hop to mean something to my soulnot just my feet. I grew up on De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest and Rakim. these guys make everything make sense to me. Hip hop was an ART.like tai kwon do or painting. Now its commerce.but even within that there is still art, but you gotta look for it a bit harderand that's cool. i work for a music publishing company and get paid nice, so I'm not averse to cashflow.but some things are sacred. Your first love will always be sacred. I have been a member of the Dream Warriors (to this day, the most successful hip hop group from Canada, who made some serious noise in Canada, Japan, UK & rest of Europe), toured with Us3 and worked with Nitin Sawhney on his awesome album Beyond Skin- that I still hear everytime I walk into a shopping mall.which is kinda cool. A few years ago I released my solo album which had been a lifetime in the making and I had a bit of success in the UK, Europe and Canada mostly. But some US TV stations and films picked some of my music up and used them in big advertising campaigns too. Then I started working on some film stuff.and had a wicked time.I started writing a script based on the life of my uncle. The film is called FRICKY KHAN and it is based on my favourite uncle who died at the age of 33 after winning the Grand Prix for motorcycles. Pretty awesome film we're developing there. Music wise, my work in the business side of music has very much taken over my life but I wanna finish the 2nd SPEK album which I'm having a hard time getting out. It's commercial and I guess edge-pushing hip hop, and in this day and age maybe I'm not rolling with the status quo so its kinda hard to find someone who has a similar vision who may wanna put it out. The people who dig it seem to be really into it though- which is encouraging. BIG TIME- so thanks you guys for spreading the love. I love my commercial pop music, but what is really turning my crank at the moment is either stuff from a bunch of bands who are either disbanded or dead. But some of my favourite current artists are here in my top friends list, who also happen to be friends which is cool.

On a separate note, I just relocated from London to Dubai in December 06. Big move. I always fancied the idea of living in Asia. Having grown up in Canada, and then lived in the UK for the best part of the past 10 years, living in the Middle East was a welcome change. The understanding of music publishing rights is really embryonic in the region, and I'm in the process of setting up the first full service music publisher in the Middle East. A pretty heavy undertaking that is actually really exciting. The prospect of being integrally involved in actually changing the landscape of the music business in the Middle East. So as you might guess my hands are pretty full but all is well and i'm loving waking up to the sun in Dubai everyday.

hit me up!
