It has been said that SpeedTheory (originally SpeedTheory=awesome) all met at an audition for "Cats" that s**tty musical but none of them made the cut, but they all got talking backstage and discovered they had alot in common they liked music. They vowed to never fail again and formed a thrash deathcore groove melodic metal band the likes of which the world had never seen before.
So awesome would this band be that it would change the face of music and unite nations (like the united nations except metal and awesome) because it was upto Jay (guitar and vox) to avenge his father, Alex (drums) to avenge his daughter, Stu (bass) to avenge his stylist and Wes (guitar and vox) to kill his hairdresser and only then would the true face of metal present itself.
Creating a substance called "speedtheorium" only found on planet awesome, home of the machine gun riffs, heart palpitating rhythms, earthquaking screams at night (and melodic serenity by day) and bass so storming it could kill some sort of ferocious beast at an impressive distance. Along with this awesome new sound would come a term used at every SpeedTheory gig, the words "lets get retarded" triggered pits so vast and unpredictable the soundguys and security would feel thier lives literally at risk.
SpeedTheory only stopping thier audio assault once everyone was dead or severally injured. So should you come to all thier shows, bare in mind that not even zombies would f**k with SpeedTheory (and like the undead they have literally nothing to lose).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Young UK band SpeedTheory are one of the most promising metal acts in the country at the moment, with "Their tight, fast and often melodic heavy metal, that comes straight out of the genre's glory days" (METAL HAMMER) this budding outfit "are only going to get bigger and better" (KERRANG!)
Having already played hundreds of shows across the UK, some with the likes of, Ill Nino, Testament, Arch Enemy, Lacuna Coil, Opeth, American Head Charge & In Flames, to name but a few and already having 2 studio albums under their belt, these youngsters are experienced beyond their years.
As the bands live and studio experience has grown, so has their song writing. Their debut release "Hit The Dirt" showed a band still trying to find their sound, but showing promise none the less "There's more than enough on display here to suggest that SpeedTheory will be around to lead the British metal charge well into the next decade and beyond" (ROCKSOUND)
Their second CD "Blood Money" displayed the kind of progress expected of them, both in musicianship and writing ability. The band had started to find their style, combining break-neck speed with "As much melody as and mainstream outfit, but its just packed with aggression rather than limp wristed whining" (METAL HAMMER). Although (due to the distribution company going into administration) this album never hit the shops, SpeedTheory did do a 14 date UK/Ireland tour to promote the release of "Blood Money" as support to LA rock/metal band My Ruin.
SpeedTheory started 2009 with a 28 date European tour with death metal legends Master(us) and soon after returning from this tour they appeared at Hammerfest alongside Opeth, Saxon, Sepultura, Skindred and many more. In the summer they entered the studio to record the demo "Origins" and following this returned to Europe as a tour support to SIX Feet Under.
"It's clear from the songwriting and the instrumentation (especially the solo's) that these young-un's will be going far" (METAL HAMMER)
