ESPAÑOLA finales de 2002 Julián Maeso (hammond y voz) de The Sunday Drivers, Antonio Pax (batería) de Vacazul y Jose Funko (guitarra) de Mamafunko se unen para tocar versiones de clásicos de jazz-funk, soul y boogaloo por los clubs madrileños. Enseguida se une al trío Martín García (saxo tenor) de Muchachito Bombo Infierno y comienzan a surgir las composiciones originales del grupo. En el verano de 2003 graban una maqueta con tres temas que sirve para seguir tocando por la península en festivales de jazz, fiestas funk y clubs en general. Un año más tarde, durante el verano de 2004 graban 10 temas originales del grupo, tocando los estilos clásicos del género: jazz-funk, soul, boogaloo, swing e incluso disco. Por este trabajo se interesa el sello londinense ACIDJAZZ Records (James Taylor Quartet, Mother Earth, Corduroy, etc) y se publica en primavera de 2006 bajo el titulo de “I'M GONNA GROOVE YA!”. En el verano de 2005 se une al grupo David “el Indio” de Vetusta Morla (percusión) coincidiendo con la grabación de un single que ha sido editado en formato vinilo con un tema inédito ("Take your time") y una versión de James Brown ("Papa don't take no mess") para el sello FUNK-O-RAMA Records, propiedad de Carlo Coupé. En primavera de 2006 se editó un segundo single en vinilo con otro tema inédito ("Unusual tatami") y una versión de “Thriller” de Michael Jackson, esta vez para LOVE MONK.Las influencias de SpeakLOW van desde los tríos y cuartetos clásicos de jazz-funk: Jimmy Smith, Reuben Wilson, Richard “Groove” Holmes o Grant Green al Funk, pasando por el Soul o la psicodelia organera de mediados de los 60. La baza de SpeakLOW es el groove imparable al más puro estilo clásico para no parar de bailar.En mayo de 2009 sale a la calle el segundo álbum de la banda: HANDS UP! que recopila los 2 singles ya editados, material nuevo y más temas inéditos. Speak Low es ahora una referncia en la escena Groove Funk y Soul Jazz europea.ENGLISHIn 2002 , three friends joined to set a Hammond trio: Julian Maeso (hammond organ), Jose Garcia (guitar) and Antonio Pax (drums). Starting with covers from Lonnie Smith, Brian Auger, Georgie Fame, Lou Donaldson, The Meters the trio would find their own sound and new compositions. After two years burning clubs all around SPAIN, they decided to record 10 songs with a new member in the band, a young talented saxofonist and horns arranger called Martin Garcia. With a 5 piece horn section and new crazy percusionist David “el Indio” on board, they completed their fresh and deep first album “I M GOONA GROOVE YA”, that would be released by ACID JAZZ RECORDS (London) in May 2006.After this successful release they supported James Taylor Quartet, Sugarman 3 with Lee Fields, and Big Boss Man in their hot appearances in Madrid, and were invited to play in Gijón International Euro Ye-Ye Weekend, Purple Weekend and Soul Ascension in Berlin as well as important clubs in Europe.The Spanish deep funk record label FUNK-O-RAMA RECORDS, has released a 45”. The band keeps on touring and soon a new single released by LOVEMONK RECORDS appear.After two more singles LOVEMONK RECORDS released a new album on May 2009, HANDS UP! compiled of old singles an new material, also on 7' vinyl format, with great success in Europe and Japan. Speaklow is now considered as a main reference in Groove Funk and Soul Jazz scene.
