It's been a long time coming for Spartacus, an alternative rock trio exploding out of Oxnard, California. Formed in early 2001, Kris and Sean Simeon began performing together at the young ages of 15 and 9 as a guitar and drumming duo. With Sean on the drums and fronted by Kris on guitar and vocals, these brothers developed of love of music and performance—dedicating hours of time to practicing and creating original music pieces. Spartacus was joined by bassist Phillip Federis in 2004, transitioning the band from duo to trio and bringing in depth to the overall sound of the music.
With influences in the like of Santana, RX Bandits, Sublime, Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Police, Spartacus is a twist on aspects of each great artist—diversifying their sound and pleasing fans of all genres. A combination of dynamic drum fills, dancing bass lines, and riveting guitar solos, Spartacus has created a sound that anyone can enjoy.
As natives of Ventura County, Spartacus has taken the stage at most of the locally renowned venues in the tri-county. Notably, they opened for reggae legend Eek A Mouse at the Ventura Majestic Theater in Ventura, California. They also opened for the RX Bandits at the Hub on the campus of UC Santa Barbara. Among their long list of shows, Spartacus has performed at: the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, Ocean View Pavilion, The Experimental Café, The EPIC, the Ventura County Fair, and Simi Valley Days. Spartacus has also performed live shows outside the county, including: Mustang Village in San Louis Obispo, CA, the Dream Center in Hollywood, CA, and the Airliner in Glendale, CA.
While Spartacus has two albums under their belt (debut album "Surfing With Tuxedos" and sophomore album "Ninjuanity") they will head into the studio soon to record their third album with producer Roger Camero of the band No Motiv.
The band's third EP release is entitled "The Tiger, the Monkey, and the Dragon"-- it will be released in February 2011.
