Nottingham UKs finest exponents of SCI-FI SUNSHINE POP & RETRO FOLKTRONICA.
Creating a wonderland of Beats, Bleeps & acoustic guitars with an eclectic mix of instruments
such as Theremin, Stylophones, Omnichord, toy phones.
Their on stage parties see them wearing bright orange spacesuits involving cartoon projections
bubble machines, astronaut GI Joes & giving away hand made space-rocket origami.
Spaceships' Line up is sometimes many, sometimes few: from 8 piece with Icelandic synth
monsters, to laptop & DJ sets.
Described in the press as Beats, bleeps & daydream believing, like super NES made a pop LP
& dreamlike romps through a blip-rock playground.
The bands debut EP broke straight into the top 100 of the US college
radio charts, shortly followed by their tunes being used on MTV reality TV shows, BBC UK,
American Airlines, sky sports, Finnair, Canadian fashion TV, Swiss TV, US eco documentary;
Houston we have a problem & Greenlandic feature film Nuummioq. Spaceships have also
written compositions directly for the BBC in the UK.
When not roaming the world living out of a suitcase, playing at CMJ, CMW, Summersound,
NYC, NXNE, Iceland airwaves, Glastonbury festival & KME Sardinia,
they have worked on collaboration & remix projects with Tokyo DJ Tatatamoto,
Lisbon lounge hop DJ Mr Bird, Icelandic electro masters Bloodgroup,
Montreal Art Rock outfit 'Tanuki project' and have recently made 2 remixes for 1970s
French Synth Legend Bernard Fevre (out soon through Universal)
and a remix of vintage electronic pioneer Olaf Schirm (for Alter-K records)
Band have recently returned from playing festivals @CMW in Toronto, @Summer sound in
Liepaja and @Melodica in Reykjavik, October will see spaceships touring with
Bloodgroup in Iceland & @Iceland Airwaves festival.
Their LP Heart echoes & new EP 'North atlantic lights'
can be found on iTunes & gogoyoko.com & Spotify.
