""Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and even the Stone Roses are melded into an exciting whole."" The Skinny
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since forming in 2003, SoulCircus* have gained an ever growing and loyal fan-base with their assault against the indifferent, pointless, middle-of-the-road music that tries to pass itself off as 21st century rock n roll. In an era of 'side-salad' music, SoulCircus offers a juicy steak, marinated in Jack Daniels, alternative.
Since their first gig at Rockers in Glasgow on April 8th 2004, the Circus have gone on to play some 300 more gigs all over the UK. Highlights have included a night of decadence at Alan McGhees "Death Disco" in London, 2 headline slots in Liverpools legendry Cavern Club (where lead guitarist Stephen McLeary became, and remains, the only person to smash his guitar on the Cavern stage) as well as sharing the bill with acts such as Glasvegas, Airborne Toxic Event, New Order's Peter Hook & Brett Anderson of Suede.
Armed with swagger, bombast and a loyal and vocal fan-base, a Circus gig is never a twee affair as the band strive to remind people what a rock n' roll gig should be (a time where the listener feels like he or she rules the world).
Mixing good time, rock n' roll rebellion of the 60's and 70's with fierce bass-lines and infectious grooves, SoulCircus* have produced a sound that is best described as The Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Doors , The Stone Roses, Kasabian and Kings of Leon all fighting each other in a Wild West Saloon.
The Circus sound has gone on to gain no small amount of critical acclaim. National Newspaper, The Daily Record described the band as "Contenders for something a bit special" and "Ones to watch".
The band is due to release their first studio album , "Hard Times" by the end of 2010. This promises to be the Circus' best work yet with their refusal to compromise refusing to get in the way of the desire to evolve. You can buy the album from this site ( www.soulcircus.tk )and it is available on CD or downloadable MP3 format (itunes).
After a year devoted to releasing their album, 2011 is set to be a gig filled year .So be sure to check on here for info and get yourself set for many nights of Rock n Roll excess.MON THE CIRCUS .
