Sometimes a solo project, sometimes a band, Sorry, Michigan is the musical outlet of fiction writer/teacher/grad student Brooks Rexroat. The band's name stems from grainy old PBS videos and a passage from Rexroat's own fiction, both of which indict the 20th century industrial boom of Rexroat's home state, Ohio, for sending copious amounts of acid rain and water pollution to its northern neighbor. The music itself is often as sparse as northern Ohio's industry has become--bare and haunting, bathed in minor chords that underscore pensive, searching lyrics.
