SONAGIRL is a product of the relationship between singer/songwriter and guitar player, Danielle Jo and drummer Gino Laham. Both veterans of the New York underground alternative/rock scene, they played in several bands around town before they finally formed their own group. Realizing they shared common influences, like the Cocteau Twins, The Cure, and Lamb, they created a unique, brooding, yet rhythmic sound, they could call their own. Danielle’s melancholy, seductive vocals and guitar playing, are perfectly complimented by Gino’s danceable, yet minimalistic drumming—and between the two, SONAGIRL was born.
