Solvent, born Jason Amm in Zimbabwe, and currently residing in Toronto, Canada, has been releasing his unique brand of analogue-synthesizer-pop music since 1997. Best known for his releases on Morr Music (2001's Solvent City) and Ghostly International (2004's Apples & Synthesizers, 2005's Elevators & Oscillators), Solvent is also co-founder of the obscure, yet influential electro(nica) label, Suction Records. Solvent has created his own unique version of electro: too elegant and sincere for the electroclash set, too complex and contemporary to sound like it was recorded in 1981, and too seeped in the time-honored traditions of melody, songwriting and hands-on synthesis to be lost in the overcrowded world of laptop techno. Solvent is widely regarded in the underground electronica community as being at the forefront of electro-pop's return to form.

Although Solvent has always had a strong affinity with pop music, his music has also garnered play and attention from techno/dance DJs, with tracks licensed to several high-profile DJ Mix CDs, including Sven Vath's "Sound of the 5th Season", Dr.Lektroluv's "Lektroluv 5", and Death in Vegas' "FabricLive 23". Solvent has also been commissioned to remix several well-known artists, including Soft Cell (his all-time favorite band!), Alter Ego, and ADULT Having toured live extensively in Europe and North America since 2004, Solvent has shared the stage with Matthew Dear, MSTRKRFT, Junior Boys, ADULT., Ectomorph, Bola, Legowelt, and many others.
