The beginning
In the year 2007 Sven Friedrich, the singer of Zeraphine and the legendary Dreadful Shadows, brought his solo project SOLAR FAKE into being.
Here the charismatic frontman, who is mentioned in several lexica and reference books as the outrider for the combination of rock and electronics in dark music, can live his penchant for electronic music perfectly. SOLAR FAKE is a pure electro- project and there are synthesized sounds only, except for his uncomparable voice.
The Music
Pulsating sequencers, driving beats and sometimes wild and aggressive vocals meet intensive melodies and melancholic moments. But Sven doesn't commits himself to a certain style.
"I like too many styles to choose only one of them. In my opinion an album is much more diversified and exciting if you combine different elements and styles", he said.
It's due to this position that his band Zeraphine is so successful. The songs break in on you, throw you very different moods, but you always keep the feeling to listen to one single album. There's the unmistakable hand of Sven Friedrich in all compositions and lyrics. But it's really something new.
A solo project - why?
"The idea of an electro project grew in me for a long time. But I lacked the time and maybe courage to do it. Last year I simply started to work on this project. After years in rockbands (which I really love and don't want to miss) I wanted to create something of my own, something uncompromising. It's good for me to be unaccountable except for myself. And I love creating sounds an electronic music anyway, so it seems to be the consequential step in my musicians life."
Live
Of course Sven will bring SOLAR FAKE onto stage. He'll be supported by one keyboarder. There will be videoprojection in line with the lightshow, the stage design is just created at the moment.

Der Anfang
Im Jahre 2007 rief Sven Friedrich, seines Zeichens Sänger von Zeraphine und der legendären Dreadful Shadows, sein Soloprojekt Solar Fake ins Leben.
Seine Vorliebe für elektronische Musik kann der charismatische Frontmann, der in einigen Lexika und Nachschlagewerken zu Recht als Vorreiter für die Vereinigung von Electronics und GothRock bezeichnet wird, hier vollends ausleben, denn Solar Fake ist ein reines Electro-Projekt und außer der unverwechselbaren Stimme finden sich hier nur elektronisch erzeugte Sounds.
Die Musik
Pulsierende Sequenzer, treibende Beats und teils wilde, aggressive Vocals paaren sich mit intensiven Melodien und melancholischen Momenten. Stilistisch lässt sich Sven Friedrich dabei nicht festlegen. "Ich mag persönlich zu viele Richtungen, um mich auf eine zu beschränken. Außerdem wird ein Album meiner Meinung nach viel abwechslungsreicher und spannender, wenn man verschiedene Stile miteinander kombiniert", so Friedrich. Dieser Einstellung ist nicht zuletzt auch ein großer Teil des Erfolges seiner Band Zeraphine zu verdanken. Die Songs überraschen, werfen einen in verschiedenste Stimmungen, man behält aber das Gefühl, ein einziges Album zu hören. Kompositorisch und auch textlich ist die Handschrift von Sven Friedrich unverkennbar. Trotzdem ist es neu, frisch und unverbraucht.
Warum ein Soloprojekt?
"Ich trage die Idee eines Elektroprojektes schon lange mit mir herum, bisher fehlte mir die Zeit und vielleicht auch ein wenig der Mut dazu. Im letzten Jahr habe ich dann einfach angefangen, an dieser Idee zu arbeiten. Nach jahrelanger Tätigkeit in Rockbands, die mir wirklich Spaß macht und die ich keinesfalls missen möchte, wollte ich aber trotzdem etwas ganz eigenes, kompromissloses kreieren. Es tut mir gut, mich auszutoben und nur mir selbst Rechenschaft schuldig zu sein. Außerdem bastle ich gern an Sounds und mag elektronische Musik sowieso. Insofern kommt es mir wie der ganz logische Schritt in meinem Musikerleben vor."
Live
Natürlich lässt es sich Sven nicht nehmen, auch Solar Fake auf die Bühne zu bringen. Dabei wird er von einem Keyboarder unterstützt, außerdem wird mit Videoprojektionen im Einklang mit der Lichtshow gearbeitet, das Bühnenbild wird derzeit entworfen.
