Mr. Soda Pop

Slim a.k.a Mr. Soda Pop, was born March 23, 1985 as Kevin Lynum in Gainesville, Fl. Slim resided in Gainesville up until the age of 9. Slim was raised up not so much in a world of drugs and crime but more or less in a world of adversity. Being the oldest of a single mother Sonya Diggs slim was forced to take on the responsibilities of a man at a very early age. Sonya is an outstanding astonishing woman that could and can never be replaced and in slim’s eyes the greatest woman to ever walk the planet. Having four children all fours years apart Sonya, did whatever it took to get food on the table for her children and to make ends meet. Due to the typical job shortages in the area at the age of 9 slim his mother and his siblings were obligated to move north to find better job opportunities. There they found Atlanta, GA. Slim say’s “when I first got there things seemed so different, I wasn’t nearly accustomed or as use to this type of habitat whatsoever. The first years of living in the ATL for slim were more like a learning process. The city being so big and diverse you really didn’t know who to trust, or who to follow. That’s when slim took it upon himself to be a leader. As Sonya always said, “learn how to be a leader son, not a follower”. Slim participated in many sporting event such as football and wrestling while in Atlanta. With much hard work put forth and determination slim was an awesome wrestler qualifying in state four times in a row. Sonya is an awesome mother and loves her son dearly but although slim was getting it done in the classroom, cuz momma didn’t play the radio, slim, also had this love for the streets. Sonya could never understand it. Seemingly slim was so accomplished he always felt and wanted more. Well unfortunately slim got a taste of reality while growing up in the raging streets of Atlanta. On a daily routine of going to school and getting off the bus to go home slim stepped off the bus to what some would say is ludicrous. Rounds flying over head, people screaming, and kids crying. Sure enough this became apart of what slim looked forward to seeing everyday. Fortunately enough he made it out as a strong young man. When slim were 16, due to the passing of his grandfather he was required to go live with his grandmother down in Hawthorne, FL. Once again a huge transformation for slim going to a school in Atlanta of over 6000 to a school middle and high school combined 636 students. Slim just continued on doing what he did making life what it is worth. Being a great track runner and also participating in football and baseball there he still began to found that love for the streets once again. It was just like the old saying goes, you can take me out the hood but you can’t take the hood out of me. But fortunately enough he sought a better life and continued his education. In 2005, Slim joined the U.S. Army. Slim has participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom and has two beautiful daughters Kayla and Kiara.
