At 33, Cedric Benoit aka Cedr'x is, since his early beginnings in 1990, one of the major figures of the French electro scene, especially in the South, where he comes from. As a teenager, he was already Djing in all kinds of student parties, very popular at the time in his native city of Avignon, where he still lives. Therefore, he naturally embraced the techno music as soon as it started to show up in France. He then was part of all the major events that symbolized its increase in popularity and its recognition as a full musical movement. The following step was the one of producing, which he had had in mind for a long time. As soon as 1996, he produced his first single. After many contributions on French and English labels and many participations in compilations, Cedric decided to produce his own sound and the one of other artists, and so he created the Labrok Records Label in 2002 (www.labrok.fr). The first track released was "What's a DJ ?", produced by Cedric, which was realeased in spring 2002 and, during the summer "Kito kito ep" produced by the Knockheadz. The Knockheadz were born from his association with Blue Bug, after two ep's produced in 1999 by Supadope and in 2000 on the English label 20:20 Vision. In this association, funk culture meets the art of mixing, in a style that they themselves call "Modern Funk". An hybrid music as Cedric cherishes, that is the same on the following ep, "Burnin' Break" compilation, realeased in june 2002, where one can find a selection of funky breaks. With this first incursion of a French DJ in a field that is usually an English one, Cedric is resolutely part of the avant-garde in the French production. English have noticed it : the first ep's of LabRok are among the best sales in several famous shops. In 2003, lab-rok has been nominated as « best new label » for the international break beat awards (www.breakspoll.com).

In 2005 the cd compilation « Labrok Groove » would hit the shops, the best of Frenchbreaks & more.

After having toured in Autralia, Portugal, UK, Slovenia, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Brazil, Spain, Japan, etc.Cedric and Matsa now form The Smokey Bastards crew.

After having organized the Suck My Beat parties at the Rex Club in Paris, Cedric keeps on managing Labrok Records, producing many hits in funkybreaks, and having recently put out the 20th release.
